cabin heating

List one incident where a correctly fitted heater failed.
Also not these are not just fitted in boats check out the camper van forums

Apart from the exhaust gas temp which I would agree is hot but I personally have nothing to compare with in that regard. Did you find any thing wrong with it. Apart from the exhaust and jubilee clips that we all know about
The glow plug didn’t last long the wiring and control was not brilliant, the installation kit was not good as you already say but heater did work ok for the few hour’s tested, the exhaust temp was way hotter than it needed to be which as well as wasting heat there’s the concern of making sure that doesn’t cause fire if adequate space not left around it. If these heaters were properly certified and the additional cost added to the price I’m sure there would still be a good market for them but just why don’t they ? I bet it’s because the costs would probably push them up too close to the others. Shame really as although I wouldn’t have one on my boat it wouldn’t worry me having one as a workshop heater.

And your point is ?

There’s a big difference between a camper van and a boat, a little bit of knowledge can be very dangerous.

As I said earlier it's the installer that is the hazard.
So can you list a boat related incident??
Do you need to hear of a fatality before deciding if something is dangerous ? that’s why things are extensively tested and issued with the correct certi prior to sale…bit late when you’re dead !

there’s been a lot on camper forums about these so try looking up and see for yourself.

What you fail to see is the obvious….threason they are not fitted is because they don’t come with the correct paperwork to prove thei integrity, just because a load of bargain hunters who post on a boating forum say they are good means nothing, nothing to do with me being a non believer, I have seen the facts to back up my views, i‘m sure the findings will be published sometime once the authors allow.
I work in boat building and believe me this has been looked at in detail and I have seen some reports from testing carried out, on what I’ve seen there is enough for me to say no thanks.
I love the way you all say the others cost so much more, well do you really think the Chinese would be selling them for £100 if they had paid for all the R & D to bring them to market ? of course it’s quite cheap for them to steal someone else’s design then mass produce while selling around the world with no comeback whatsoever.
Your last paragraph is correct. It isn’t a quality issue it’s a morality issue.
As eber and webasto are convicted price fixers, they have no morality when it comes to their customers.
I’m therefore conscience free when buying the Chinese heater.

There have been fatalities from the expensive German heaters. If you don’t take precautions with those you are at far more risk than me with my Chinese heaters. You are a victim of marketing hype.

IF you are referring to the 2 people that perished through carbon monoxide poisoning - then this is why it is stressed to have carbon monoxide monitors fitted.
Which you would use regardless of manufacturer.

Further if they are prepared to price fix what else are they prepared to do you have got to wonder

I am more than happy with the 4 I have fitted and I think I am in the majority. I have never been one to be reassured by high prices. Or indeed had much interest in brand badges. As for certs on things seen many not excited by those either prefer to use my own nouse

what have you done to protect the heat from the exhaust causing a issue in a confined space
ive wrapped it with fibreglass exhaust wrap , done know if thats good enough or if to line the area is passes through with fibreglass ?

Exhaust wrap is fine the thing you will notice for about a hour of the heater running is a slight smell from the wrap but that will go.

I just used the exhaust wrap (link below) I did wrap it with wire and I think I used 2 layers. The stuff with the silicoln outer I saw recently looks a very good option
