Thats because I used silicone ducting which can take up to 260c these heaters push out roughly 130c
Marine silencer then the skin fitting
Etc etc I will be posting a YouTube video around Easter highlighting my install not how to drill a hole but what to consider.
There is another install required on these as it has been said a million times and that is a carbon monoxide monitor now even if I had paid out for a £2k heater or £80 heater you still would be wise on investing an extra £20 for one of these which is nothing compared with yours or others life

£300 for your ducting is steep.

That's the variable cost depending on length and outlets required of course....

My install used the supplied ducting only - no installation required as v short runs. Base cost of heater, hull fitting, high temp wrap for exhaust and quality stainless exhaust was £250

The ducting was about £140 for 6mtr.
There other bits and bobs that took the price up - I will tag you when I do my video

I rather like the Silicon exhaust ducting as the white stuff frays so much after it has been cut. Within the kit you get with the Chinese heaters I think the supplied doct and the exhaust pipe are fine. The exhaust supplied must not be used internally, the jubilee clips are poor and there is no skin fitting. The fuel filter can also leak. I was happy to use the flexible fuel line but mine is a very short run and I keep an eye on it. The later units seem to be supplied with what I suspect is better fuel line.

I would agree with Nick that for a simple install with shortish runs and doing it yourself . The all in material cost is about £250.

I just used normal ducting but sleeved it in armaflex insulation which was expensive....I dont even want to check how much it was as it will ruin my day

The thing is which is important is that you recognise that the only part which you keep is the heater unit the rest is pants.
You have to upgrade the parts which will bump up the costs.
But in my opinion if you're going to do it then do it once.

It is not just the Unit. The Ducting, Exhaust Pipe, Grille fittings, screws, Pump, Remote, Screen, Pump holder, Fuel line (newer models), Combustion air intake pipe, Tank, Mount, Combustion Air filter and some of the smaller pieces are all fine. In fact if you try to buy these items again you will just be buying what you already have.

Waste the good stuff along with your money if you wish just don't mislead others.

So to be clear. The parts that should not be used (particularly in a boat) in my view having got and installed 4 of these are:

1) The exhaust if installing in a boat. Ok if used externally in say a shed or camper van
2) Some of the Jubilee clips but you could just replace all of them I suggest with stainless
3) Possibly the fuel line depending on what type you get and how you install
4) The fuel filter

All the rest was perfectly fine with the 4 I have and I used the stuff as supplied that I needed based on my different installs.

It is of course up to the individual. You can decide it is all pants if you like wasting things and your money. You decide, Use your common sense and if installing somewhere where people could be at risk install a CO alarm

I was highlighting the some of the supplied parts don't come up to scratch and better to have a higher quality parts than ones that could fail.
Of course the loom and controller is good

No they won't, it will be assessed in the event of a claim which may or may not affect what they will pay. I would only use fuel lines that are certified as Jon suggested, no different to the hoses attached to your engine.

Unless it is stipulated in the Policy it is not relevant. It is called a contract with clauses.

One question to you.... Have you ever installed one of these heaters

So you went for the Reassuringly Expensive and ignored the huge fine that Eber and Webasto got from the EU for Price fixing......... Don't you perhaps think the High Price might have had something to do with the Price fixing. Just maybe

Ebay resellers are well aware of People with your beliefs. They buy the good value Chinese stuff, Rebrand it. Price it at about 75 % of the Mainstream and hook you in.............. What is it oft said about a person and their money.

Yup that will work.......... and I am sure they will miss your custom..... My mate wont buy from Amazon and he thinks that will make some sort of difference. Are you aware of the percentage of goods that are made in China..... You cant dodge them not matter how hard you try

This is why I went a bit above and beyond to avoid any possibility of hassle especially where electric cables and ducting are hidden behind panels that will take screw drivers to remove if needed to access quickly

Hmmm not really when you compare a service on an eber is probably the cost of 3 CDH's.
So if one broke down and you didn't want to fix it which parts are also cheaper.
All you would have to do is swap it out with the faulty model as the rest is already fitted like the harness and ducting etc.
