That one was under offer at some point, as I had booked in to see it. Might have failed a survey. Saw the Praetorien in the same yard which was unfortunately way way overpriced for the condition she was in.

This Condor 37 looked in good nick when I saw her: Condor 37 for sale in United Kingdom for £34,950. Leaking forehatch, pretty minimal electrics but otherwise looked very well maintained. The teak deck timebomb looked decently thick. Single winch cutter rig was way way too much for me as a newb single hander and she was also a tad too big..

For an apocalypse escape capsule, don't buy a project. Need to be ready to put to sea within 48 hours.

Sailing trans Atlantic, you will nor be using astern very often! (but I bet the Rustler would be 'interesting' with knobs on).
Seriously, I would not be too worried about the Rustler 31 being 50 years old - most of the serious works seems t have been done. But I think it is optimistically priced; how about getting it well below £20K - you could also get a very smart, late Nic 32 for about that.

Simply wait for the apocalypse, then commandeer one of the countless unused boats sitting idly in a nearby marina. Look for one that has been maintained recently (check how long the fouling on the bottom is), more likely to be at least somewhat functional. Steel hulls with high bulwarks preferable, as they will resist small arms fire better (from looters and other pirates). Load it up with whatever food you can scavenge and plunder the local chandlery for boat spares - you can barter the ones that don't fit your boat for others later. Large fuel tanks also useful for carrying all the fuel you're siphoning from the other boats. Bring tools suitable for jury-rigging absolutely everything, as the right spares will be fought over. See if you can find some abandoned military boats for a deck mounted cannon - should scare off others more effectively than just automatic weapons.
Then head for an uninhabited area with good shelter, somewhere to hide and an easy escape route.

The Rustler 31 we are selling at Rustler 31 for sale - Yachtsnet Ltd. online UK yacht brokers - yacht brokerage and boat sales needs almost zero spend: a little bit of revarnishing of the teak trim on the cockpit and a coat of antifoul. Then launch and fill with tins of beans and water or other victuals and set off for anywhere. It is one of those boats that has been fanatically maintained, by someone very skilled. Don't try silly offers though, we've turned some down already. I know just how good it is despite it's age.
