I thought I knew which boat you were talking about. I was wrong but on the boat I was looking at I found that the height was measured excluding Ariels (isn't that a serendipity?).

Now, which of the following would you rather have at the top of your mast:

(a) A variety of the gazelle ({Antilope, or Gazella,
dorcas}), found in Arabia and adjacent countries.
(b) A squirrel-like Australian marsupial, a species of
{Petaurus}.
(c) A beautiful Brazilian toucan {Ramphastos ariel})

Of course, it is also a cabalistic spirit of the sea and wind, but somehow I doubt that the shipbuilder managed to find one...
