Brass problems

Does any one know of a product that will stop brass from going tarnished . I have many brass items that have been treated from new with some sort of clear varnish type substence from new.Due to salt corrosion it is now going discolured and pitted,I can remove th finnish with paint stripper and re-pollsh but what can I use to seal it any ideas?

I have used a clear spray on lacquer with quite good results but it will need re doing from time to time.

I have just removed all my light fitting surounds. Spent ages and ages polishing with Brasso.Now going to spray with Laquer.
