Does anyone know where i can find the regulations (On the Internet) regarding installation of gas appliances, diesel heating appliances and any other dangerous item that may be found aboard a boat and picked up by a survey or insurance company?

Cheers
Steve

<A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.calormarineshop.co.uk/marine_gas/best_practice_installation.htm>Corgi regulations </A> are still only advisory as far as a private vessel is concerned. but are still best practice.

Although sea going craft actually have no rules on gas safety etc. (well those under 12m) most surveyors and people use the Boat Safety scheme as a bench mark, even though it is primarily aimed at ditch crawling.

Here is the information you require >>

<A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.boatsafetyscheme.com/site/Home_1.asp>Boat Safety Scheme</A>

<A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.socal.co.uk/bluewater/bwn20.htm>Calor Gas Advise</A>

As to your others, the diesel heater you could try <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.espar.com>http://www.espar.com</A>

Other dangerous items?

hope this helps a little...

Get a copy of the MCA blue code it covers gas installations, most of it makes a lot of sense. Its very usefull to go through it as if you were coding your own boat as it makes you look at every safety feature, from bilge pumps to guard rails. This seems to be a bench mark for safety although designed for commercial operators.

There is a "corgi" boat gas fitter called Brian Straub who stays near Fort Augustus. When I get back home in a couple of weeks I will look up his number and address then pm you with it.
If you are in a big rush, phone Mike Lofts, Caley BWB in Inversnecky. He can get the number for you.
This guy refitted our stuff for us before we left.
