There's a comparison site for boat transport offers and I can't for the life of me think what it's called ... will soon be shifting a 10m motor boat to the South of France and need to check best and/or cheapest way of doing it. I remember putting my details on this site when I wanted to bring a sailing boat down from Ipswich but blowed if I can remember who they were!

Think you mean Shiply. Never had any luck. Plenty of people do that run, So get on the phone for quotes. Be aware that prices can vary hugely depending on such things as time of year, availability of backload, your flexibility.

Shiply was the site I was looking for thanks ... had one quote from a reputable looking outfit in Hythe for £3500 which seemed reasonable ... want to get a couple more quotes.

ah yeah the beam will make a massive difference. over 3m it becomes an oversized load

As long as a pilot car isn't needed the beam hasn't cost me any extra.
A few times we've needed pilot car on boats say 3.5m beam and up but only out of the town/village

Boat transport Ltd must have done at least 25 boats for me. My company is shipping boats to Sweden.
Say hello from Rickard(Sweden) if you speak to them :)

I'll probably use them, Boat Transport Ltd ... unless I get a very much cheaper offer although if I do I'll probably still use them ... good price and they look very professional.

You can trust Geoff to look after your boat, would rather pay a few hundred more for that.

You could also try Simon at Boat shift transport........absolutely no connection, i just follow him on twitter. He looks very busy all the time and posts loads of pics on twitter of what he is transporting., comes across as a good guy.

What were the boat dimensions please. And is that SoF back to the UK or to northern France?

Who were the company?

The company is called Transport Capelle, a professional boat transport company. The boat is 13m LOA and the beam is just under 4m. Their English is good although I have used a close friend who is French to translate and act as an intermediary. The quote comes with basic insurance but it can be topped up with an additional fee of 0.2% of the boats value, so in my case another £200. The trip is a pick up on the Brittany coast and a drop off just south of Dijon on the River. Hope this helps.
