Oh the joys of selling a boat.

I am currently downsizing the fleet from three to two boats (plus the ones I have for the bath) and have advertised the old boat as a project at a extremely competitive price. In the last 24 hours I've had umpteen messages asking for pictures of this and that and if people can buy this and that bit on its own - which I am happy to do as long as they pay the full asking price of the package and I'll throw in everything else for free :D

I am pretty sure this is very common.

Can you post some pictures of the bath toys please? Can I buy just those that are mechanically operated (clockwork or battery), and not the rubber ducks please? What size batteries do they take?

Oh, and do you have any submarine bath toys? :o

It seems to an endemic selling problem - especially on ebay

" What size is the XL size suit? " when you've gone to the bother of a link to the manufacturers size chart... followed by " Will it fit me, I'm a medium?" from some other chump.

I had someone ask me how long was the 7-foot dinghy I advertised, with the length field filled in and the length mentioned again in the description. I think I even included metres in one of them.

I didn't reply, as that might have risked the moron actually buying the thing and me having to deal with him.

You would think a medium would just know the answer without having to use worldly communications.

I am selling something on ebay for £20. Shipping is listed as UK only.

Get an email from someone in France asking how much it will be to ship to France.

Got no problem with that, its an unusual item so I'll help the guy out, as he is probably struggling to get one over there. Look into it and reply that postage will be about £12.

He then comes back with the following...............

So how much will the item be with postage?

If I buy the project boat, will you throw in one of your other boats you own so I can go sailing?

Be careful even with buying bath boats. I once bought a wind up RLNI boat from an RLNI shop and the bloody thing would sink before it had gone 2 feet. Someone had forgotten the need for a stern gland. LOL.
