Whenever you make an offer it should be time limited. For example, this offer is valid until noon on the 1st April 2022, thereafter it will lapse.
This ^^^Just call and ask how the vendor responded to your offer...no subterfuge, no reverse psychology. You're buying an old boat, not negotiating a ceasefire.
Haha.. That did tickle me. Buying a boat can feel a bit like a NATO summit at times though.Just call and ask how the vendor responded to your offer...no subterfuge, no reverse psychology. You're buying an old boat, not negotiating a ceasefire.
Hard to guess.....scenario 1 - broker is plain lazy, so any kind of chase will or will not have an effect. Scenario 2 - the broker wants the vendor to respond but does not want to bug him. Having a 'you might lose the buyer because he's interested in another boat' to present to the vendor might be just what the broker needs to get it over the line. Obviously don't make up a boat that is round the corner, pick a real one that's maybe abroad. Or a motorhome , or a villa in Marbella.... just something that pushes a quicker decision for fear that your wallet is going to empty elsewhereI would leave out the bit about a second boat...the broker maybe very well aquatinted with the local market and know you are lying....just give them the deadline....or say your wife wants a motor home...

As far as the UK market is concerned ,there are only two premium players that anybody has heard of and wants to buy , Princess and Fairline, Brooms really have no real attractions to these buyers.
What on earth makes you believe this?![]()
That's some mark-up but I'm not surprised. Air travel and car hire prices have rocketed in some areas. Two people I know, one in the UK and one in France have been charged triple the normal rate for car hire. The market for 7 metre sports cruisers is strong on the Hamble.
Just sold my boat for 56% more than I paid 4 years ago...?
Yep, hire car prices in France are nuts this yearThat's some mark-up but I'm not surprised. Air travel and car hire prices have rocketed in some areas. Two people I know, one in the UK and one in France have been charged triple the normal rate for car hire.
So relatively small sports boats are a good way of getting on the water without a fortune of running costs. I can see the appeal.

Zoom rises again Trev, 5.2 metre Excel RIB with ally hull - fancied a bit of excitement!
I heard it is down to a shortage of cars. They offloaded a lot of current stock in lockdown, and now can't get new cars because of the chip shortages. Don't know how true it is, but sounds feasible. And Sapi
