Cause no end of schoolboy giggling when visiting the USA.

A few raised eyebrows when the Roachbank called in too but if you want a real laugh try the Bangkok registered Wana Buhm. Unlike the fictional "Titan Uranus" the Wana Buhm is a real container ship.

Anticipating confusion when the JOG racing yacht "Change Of Course" calls up a ship while crossing the shipping lanes. What were they thinking?

I crewed on a boat called Knot Paid IV. A very clever pun but a nightmare on the VHF.

Saw a boat down in Lyme Regis called "Couilles de Chien" a couple of years ago. I suppose no problem really until you get close to Cherbourg.

On a practical level, boat names comprising sibilants are difficult to make out over the vhf. My boat, Sheolin, is an example. I won’t be changing it though.

Fireball dinghies were always good for names: Sailbad the Sinner, Maid for Pleasure, Slipperdicktomey etc

On my trips around the Uk a few harbour masters of the smaller ports, plus lock keepers, often sang "Daydream Believer" when replying on VHF. But did not know the rest of the song when I challenged them.
