While you could leave Turkey for a while for Greece, it will only be effective if you surrender your transit log to the authorities on exit, with all the formalities entailed, and then obtain a new transit log when you re-enter
Even if you surrender your transit log and leave Turkish waters you do not stop the 180 day clock from running merely the 90 days that you are allowed to spend in Turkey during this period. The requirements for the extended Tourist Visa are similar to those for a Residency Visa, at least they are in Alanya. http://www.ybw.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3458216&postcount=50

Has any one had any news or feedback posted from the meeting that was to take place on the 1st of April regarding the Blue Card scheme?

Good morning:

I applied for an extension of my residence permit (Ikamet) yesterday and was very surprised to be asked "how many years do you want?" because in the past they were very firm that the residence permit could only be granted for the period covered by my marina contract. I asked for a three year permit and if all goes well, as I expect it will, I will get a three year permit even though I have only a one year contract.

I was also impressed with how easy it is to obtain the permit now without the need to traipse all over town collecting signatures before approaching the Passport Police. I collected my paperwork and went directly to their office and was given a paper indicating the cost which I have to take to the treasury office to pay before returning the receipt to the Passport Police after which I am told I will receive the new permit in a week. They also did not retain my passport as they have done in the past.

I think this change might have an impact on those who want to cruise in Turkey for more than 90 days in that they might now be able to get a residence permit for 6 or 7 months while having a marina contract for a short period.

There are also moves afoot to enable us to obtain a Transit Log on line paying with a credit card without employing an agent.

If this progress continues we will soon not have anything to complain about which will be a real shock for anyone who has experienced the nightmare involved in dealing with authorities in the past.

Cheers

A welcome development indeed, but we won't hold our breath.
As a matter of interest, apart from transit logs, what else do these agents do for a living?
Not trying to have a go at them but just curious.

Good evening:

Jamesmar: As a matter of interest, apart from transit logs, what else do these agents do for a living?

Prior to their services being required for anyone to get a transit log, they make a living catering to those who were unwilling to do the leg work involved and had the funds to pay someone else to take care of the problems.

I was going to say "too lazy" but if I had the funds to spare I would probably have used them myself before becoming obligated to do so.

They were also useful in sorting out any customs problems with imported equipment.

Cheers

The blue card is free issue and should not be charged for. I have never paid for pumping out either. Yat marina will know this.

I met some folks who had a Blue card. They simply made sure not to empty their black water tank just before they got back to their marina in Gocek. Handed the card over when the tank was pumped out. Job done. No questions on Grey Water, no problems with the Black Water tank not being full to the brim, nor whether there was any record of pump-outs elsewhere.

Im still trying to decide if ....

I'll be OK when we visit Turkey in August. I have a black water holding tank into which both heads can be routed, but no pump-out deck fitting. I dont have a Grey water tank or facility to route to the black water tank.

I dont plan to visit marinas except to checkin to Turkey from Greece and drop guests off after 1 week.

Ive already realized that I'll have to keep my head down, be very discreet and pump out well offshore but do you think I'll get away with it ?

Has anyone heard of any (responsible) cruising yachts actualy being fined or refused entry in these circumstances ?

I know the Blue Card thing has been done to death but Im sure Im not the only one mulling this over.

BLUE CARD

I am in a similar position as Affinite, except that we have a very small holding tank. We SHALL come over to Turkey next week. My small worry/concern is that our holding tank is very small and wonder if anyone in aurthority is going to force us to make regular trips to marinas in order to pump out. We very rarely go into marinas and much prefer quite anchorages.

We have been in Turkey from Oct 2011 until 3 weeks ago when we had to check because of daft visa rules (which, of course, changed a week after we left!)
Visited Finike, Fethiye, Marmaris Yat and Bodrum marinas and a few other harbours - no official or marina staff anywhere ever mentioned a blue card. I note that Fethiye, Marmaris Yat and Bodrum each have one pump out station - not seen one in any other location and never seen one in use.

Not aware that it has been implemented as still few facilities

What daft visa rules are those - presumably not the ones that are now the same as the Schengen Treaty countries

We met a guy in the Gulf of Gökova - he had a biggish Jeanneau - who said he had a full tank and had requested a pumpout in Bodrum marina. He was told he couldn't have one for 3 days. He also mentioned somewhere where you had to provide your own pipe - I don't know where that was.

Waiting to go into Turgutreis maina we heard a Sunsail boat on VHF requesting directions to the pumpout.. A Sunsail lead skipper - in Simi - told me last year that Sunsail boats were to be fitted with grey tanks over the winter.

Met a Sunsail yacht in Knidos. Skipper told me that he had been expressly told to use the pump-out facility upon returning to base at Turgutreis at the end of the charter, and get the book/paper stamped, so that Sunsail could prove that they were using the system and would not get hassle from the authorities.

For those interested, I have just been informed that the blue card scheme is being introduced (or extended) to Antalya province, beginning 29th June.
This stretches from Kaş to Alanya.
Apparently all the marinas in between have full disposal facilities  to cope with this. From what I read in the leaflet however, it looks like the scheme is more about disposal of other waste such as plastics and usual domestic waste rather than toilet waste!
I can't see it making a big impact and most of the guys here see it as no more than a paper exercise!
