Awesome to get an update and thanks for posting.

Gives a real insight into what’s needed to keep these big older boats going! ?

Incredible !
Absolutely, nothing short of!

Bart, the next time I will be fed up by some minor maintenance on my boat, due to poor accessibility or any other reason, I will remember what you did - and keep doing - on BA. That really puts in perspective any DIY job that I've ever done onboard...
Respect! (y)

Many thanks Bart. You are rivalling Vas with your ingenious fixes.

P, I 'don't want to take up that challange, Vas is playing in another "league" :)
and I didn't go in to detail but usually when I say "I did",
I meant "I had this done by someone else" ;-)
On this occasion I was there with 1 friend, and 2 very handy cousins,
and they are all like myself; like hobby-ing on the boat, except they are much younger and more "flexible" :)
anyway, in this case, the genset rebuild was "my" project, and I did all of that all by myself

No need to explain Bart. Every successful team needs a great leader.

Here is a report of the rebuild of the superstructure,
works that we started last year in September in Yard Sacirn in St Antioco Sardegna.

First job was the liftout,

very little fouling as last liftout and new antifouling was done only 4 months ago

lots of small and large damages and wear is repaired

the works we did 5 y ago ao rebuilding the bulwarks appeared not to be done very good,
the yard here opened the GRP panels, and found lots of water ingress, and very little bond of the frames to the deck

and glass matt missing on the seams

here again many retouches and repairs on the wooden superstructure

in november I went to Mets exhibition in Amsterdam, and found no less than 6 suppliers for carbon poles for the sun shades

in the end I ordered poles from I-carbon in Italy, I liked to mounting system !,
see picture above, the poles have a big M24 screw on the bottom, to be screwed in a big mounting plate
poles are delivered but sockets not yet installed ! tbc !!

here you see the scaffolding they made for rebuilding the back of the FB border

we also asked them to fit some SS reinforcing profiles in the cockpit ceiling, remember we had some cracks there when my son dropped the crane with the tender etc..

we did some works in ER and Lazarette ourselves,

repainting floor and walls, refitting watermaker and pumps, including big new bilge pump

She’s obviously all wood...but is she covered with fiberglass ?

hull is fibreglass,
Gunwale was wood, but replaced with GRP panels 5...6 y ago, structure inside the gunwale still solid wood, (now extra reinforced )
complete superstructure is wood,
aswell as everything inside the boat. furniture, walls, floor, ...all wood.

Is this being done by one company in their boat shed...or is it your premises and you hire artisans when you need them?
