I was wondering when BA was going back in the water

this week a lot of small final jobs and polishing has been going on,
(while I'm very busy home at work)
tomorrow morning she will go back in the water,
and hopefully sunday when I arrive, she will be nice and clean.

Portoferraio in Elba is a much nice place for a night's stop

yes agree,
we were in Portoferraio during the delivery trip last year with the family, and spend some time there,
But for now we want to take the shortest / fastest route to SOF (weather depending)
Alfonso is in a hurry to be back home.
I prefer to do this trip in company with another experienced shipper, so unless another shipper shows up, He's obliged to join me :)

its a shame thats we have to do this trip in a hurry, so many nice places along the route (as experienced last year)
but logistics for doing that again are too difficult, and would like to spend some more time on cote d'azur this season.

just got a phone call that the boat is back in the water ! ready to go

Hi BartW

As a newcomer, just wanted to say thanks to you and BA for getting me hooked. I love your boat both as original and with the recent mods.

Now thanks to you and BA, I have a lot of learning (and spending) ahead

Good luck on your trip!

Alan

This old cockpit bench was wood color,
We have this painted white, same like the new bench,
all with new Sunbrella cushions;

Pay attention to the removable backrest cushion,

The existing passerelle gate, is modified and made the same like the new gate for the steps:

Some last minute stuff I ordered a week ago, removable benches for the dive sets,
Remember this is transom rear side where we have installed the HiLo platform two weeks ago

Acoustic absorption above the engines,
new perforated aluminum protective grills still to be placed

i-7Gvm4C8-L.jpg

Also new fabrics in the saloon,
The dinner table bench should be done aswell,
but the original leather is such a good quality that we couldn’t convince ourselves to replace it with fabric.
Sunbrella outside is 3705
And inside is 3758 (similar like the one outside, but finer structure, and a little darker)

The hull and SS rails have been polished,
Gunwale capping varnished,

clouds here today, so no shiny pictures yet.

i-TH5TSL8-L.jpg

New Furuno display on the FB Helm, network with the old one downstairs.
And Video input module, camera’s still to be installed.
The Icom VHF used to be on the downstairs helm.
There still is a the original old analog Sailor VHF, and working.

i-T3mcvkv-L.jpg

Also the antenna’s have been re arranged completely,
All old antenna’s (5pcs) gone,
except for the SSB antennas, they are part of the C70 design ;)

New center Scanstrud radar Pole,
With :
- two new equal VHF antenna’s
- two GSM Data antenna’s
- Radar
- top light and spot light

the GPS mushrooms (3) are in the new dummy dome.

i-b6Jwf7n-L.jpg

All teac recaulked and sanded

i-6kXrXJq-L.jpg

There used to be a silly SS cable tray fixed on the floor, (from winch to bow)
All cables are now under the floor

i-sbZbj4p-L.jpg

And last but not least the new deck lights
Purely coincidently we found these 2 color leds,
Switch them ON they are white,

i-r2SfQfH-L.jpg

Off and On again (within max 3 secs) they are blue

Rebuild project has almost reached a end (for this year ;-)
We did a lot more than originally planned,
We are very pleased with the result,

Truly stunning job Bart, you must be very pleased. The Hi/lo platform, interior, lights all look superb. Is there any reason you didn't go for an open array radar?
Your workmen have done you proud!

Is there any reason you didn't go for an open array radar?

its the original radar,
but all stuf on the radar arch was a mess,
we made it look more clean and symetric,

this was the old situation:

i-PtKKKQm-Th.jpg

also 2 old (unused) antenna's on the radar arch sides,
and one on the bow,
all gone now

I have to admid that I don't like
that they didn't place the new antenna's 100% vertical,
have to find a solution for that.

Bart, I did expect a great result, but that's really over the top. She doesn't look the same boat anymore, absolutely outstanding!
Just be careful when reversing in your berth, you'll have to stop much earlier than you got used to... :)

As an aside, I've seen what you said in the other thread on additional stern cleats for the spring lines.
Actually, my first choice (in terms of practicality of use) would be on the corners of the fixed platform, rather than under the fairleads - see the red spots in the pic below.
Ideally, I would try to fit these things, but I'm not sure if the platform is thick enough. Though there are other models of retractable cleats which are less deep, if these can't fit.
Anyway, for what I recall of your fixed platform, it's very substantial and more than capable to take the mooring lines load - even more so for "just" spring lines.

Bart,

excellent work, only annoyed I couldn't finally make it for the Rome -> SOF trip, If you'd given a longer warning I'd have managed to sort out teaching and wife moaning and join you!

work is truly outstanding, congrats to all the "kids" involved!

enjoy the delivery trip,

cheers

V.

LOL, I must admit that not only I had the privilege of an earlier warning, but also my wife would have been even happier than myself to come, go figure!
But we couldn't really make it happen, due to other previous engagements. :(

Just to let you know that we didn't departure, due to bad weather forecast,

as available time this week, for Alf and myself is limited,
the trip will probably be postponed for 2 or 3 weeks,
more news later,

so a second chance for Silvia and you guy's :)

no worry's, but
just feel sad for the workers,
last week they worked day and night to get everything finished in time:eek:
