anybody got a 55mm and a 60mm deep socket they would lend or sell me? its the only tool i can use to tighten up a new skin fitting im putting in!

You are possibly using the wrong word in your search and as a consequence costs are high. :(

Google for '55mm box spanner' and you might find a cheap supplier.

I know they are called spanners but they are cheap pressed tin deep sockets which is what you are seeking. :)

cheers chaps, now ordering off amazon.

its ideal because i cant get anything around the nut, bill dixon was a good designer, but clearly not that good!

allthough i still wont be able to get a complete turn with a box spanner i can at least get a shifter on the end and do half a turn at a time.

thansk to all who replied

use a softwood wedge from the outside

You can ram a softwood wedge with a hole across it into the skin fitting and turn that from the outside instead provided you can hold the nut still on the inside, perhaps with a stillson from one direction or another. There's usually a lug in the bore for it to grip.
