Best source of stainless screws...

here's an ebay shop called Aruncas. (Actually a real shop that also sells there). Great selection of SS nuts bolts screws all sorts, and fantastic prices. Watch for A2 vs A4, they do say, but at these prices you could be too quick to choose.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I stumbled across some very beautiful silicon bronze wood screws:

I recently had to buy 200 2" by 10 silicon bronze screws for a partial rebuild of my boat and eventually bought them from https://shop.classic-boat-supplies.com.au/ in Australia.
Even with their vat and our import duty they worked out just slightly more than half of what I would have paid in the UK and they arrived in about ten days. £126.56 plus £24.30 UK import duty which was a lot less than about £250.00 to buy them here.

Might be worth getting a quote from them for stainless screws.

i buy almost all of my SS screw, washers etc from the marine section at Bauhaus (dunno if you have them in the UK) they cost a 3rd fraction of what my marine pusher sells them for.

There are numerous suppliers of stainless steel fixings on ebay. Most of the stuff is A2 rather than A4. That didn't bother me too much when I was doing a refit and was very happy with the selection and service from an e-bay shop called "boltbase".

Guy is building a dinghy. Unless is spends it's life in the water, then A2 is fine and that also dépends on if he sheaths it with glass, at which point plain old brass would do.
I did get some nice stuff from Anglia Stainless, who, dispite the name, supply things like Gripfast nails.

www. inox.ie used their stuff for years, very cheap and quick delivery, incl UK delivery, perfect quality no gimpy screw heads and no shearing of the screws or the heads. Use A4 quality.

I don't know what quantities you are planning to use but, size for size, self tappers cost a fraction of 'proper' stainless wood-screws, especial in the larger sizes. I found that a long time ago.
p.s. If you are buying in person, do take a magnet with you to check what you are given.
