Best pubs for sailors around uk?

The Small Craft Association (Smallies) at Hartlepool.

Technically a club but membership is something like £1.00 pa.

Interesting opening hours and even more interesting toilets.

Found this - Sanda - which doesn't sound like a place to pop into for a quick pint while waiting for the tide.

Sounds like they are going to try to control landing and restrict the use of the pier but I presume they can not stop you anchoring or landing on the beach.
From the website referred to
'Dear guests, that is why we have decided to offer limited instead of mass access'
when was the last time Sanda was subject to 'mass access'?
Big change from the welcome from the previous owner!

I've got to echo the recommendations for the Cherub Inn in Dartmouth (in fact, goes down as one of my favourite pubs, full stop) and the Chain Locker in Falmouth. In and around the Barbican area of Plymouth (where I currently live), you'd have to say that the Minerva Inn on Looe St and the Dolphin Inn are both places you'd half expect to find the likes of Drake after a successful raid on the Spanish...

I am not an expert in the law, but my understanding is that with recent rights of access laws in scotland the owner of land cannot prevent access, other than close to the buildings. Would need to consult Dr Google for precise details but any "no landing" approach (not implied here) is unlikely to be legally enforceable

Jenny Watts in Bangor, Co. Down
The Rhu Inn
Isle of Gigha Hotel

and more votes for:
Tigh an Truish, Seil
Mishnish, Tobermory
The Chain Locker, Falmouth

...and a fervent hope that the Pandora Inn, Restronguet Creek, near Mylor will be restored to its pre-fire condition.

Across from the Chain Locker is the Waterfront, which has multiple awards for its beer, a permanent beer festival, and you can bring fish and chips in from the shop overhead.

You can just sign in as a visitor.

If you are in Hartlepool would recomend the Rat Race in the railway station, but dont expect anything other than real ale.

Which are your favourite pubs for sailors? Planning a trip around the UK and might need some liquid motivation to sail to the next beautiful spot.

A new pub. Northern Ireland counts as UK. Near Bangor marina there is a pub called Fealtys, spit and sawdust place with a great pint and session music in the back room. Also Cory's across the road, good food, friendly and live music. A bit further afield Grace Neills in Donaghadee, Irelands oldest pub if you buy the blarney. The food is trumps and the beer is good.

I think the Colintraive Hotel deserves a mention. Good number of "free to customers" moorings, nice atmosphere and good food & local beer. Has become my traditional last night stop on the way back from the summer cruise. Only been into the Russian Tavern in Port Bannatyne once and the barman/owner drank more beer than I did while I was there! Interesting and very welcoming chap. Also recommend the Port Askaig Hotel, as much for the view as anything else, although the food was fine.

I have been told the Oystercatcher on Loch Fyne is good. will try it and report

No need,-some moorings and plenty of room to anchor, good landing pontoon for dinghies and mobos. clean sandy beach. Child and dog friendly, quiet rural location though as popular with bikers as yachties. Food and beers are fine, prices average.
Bastille day used to be their big day of the year but it changed hands a couple of years ago, the more recent owner is not French so I am not sure if the party is still held.
Great spot for a lunch outdoors on a sunny day.

try the Kames Hotel on your way through the Kyles - free moorings and great food and drink

was there Saturday Night - still good

Noticed the Royal / An lochan was deserted - has anyone tried it since the new owners took over?

The Crown Hotel, Port Patrick, good food, good beer, reasonable prices and very handy for wobbling back to the bateaux.

Definately NOT the Gazelle in the Menai Straits, the landlord is as mad as a snake or was 3 years ago.
