Another Watering hole

Marina bars and restaurants are a mixed bag: the good, the bad and the ugly.
The one I am going to suggest falls into the former category.
The Waypoint at Kerrera is located in the Oban Kerrera Marina just a short courtesy ferry ride from Oban town. It reminds me of a place one might find in more tropical climes with the marquee roof, wooden tables, heaters and waterside view. The glasses of wine are generous, the service friendly and the seafood so fresh it tries to jump back into the sea. All that is needed is sunshine and a calypso band

From personal experience sadly it's not so good in the rain. The food has to be bought from the kitchen outside around the trellis and then under the umbrellas/awning. Free rain with every meal complete with soggy bread. It was also a faff having to pay for drinks separate from the food, drinks are from a shed in one corner and food is from the shed in the other, two different companies you see. We found the food was expensive (£9 for stew) for what it was, neither of us are great fish/seafood fans.

After the marina had got our hopes up with the "4 modern, well appointed shower rooms" then discovering they weren't, they also had no diesel, and a stonking great pile of dog poo by one of the hoses on our pontoon, we were left a bit disappointed by the whole visit to Oban/Kerrera Marina to be honest. The marina did have free WiFi onboard though.

The Oban distillery tour was good (so was the cask strength 12YO), as was the butcher towards the Supermarket from the harbour. A butcher wearing a tie is always a good sign :)
