Does anyone have experience of straightening a bent p bracket? I think mine has bent slightly to starboard after picking up a lobster pot last season. I'm thinking it will need to be heated, but then the best way to cajole it back into line?

Yes.
Depends what route to repair you want to go down. ie insurance or DIY if handy with tools and in a hurry.
Bent a 1,5" stainless shaft and into the bargain a bronze "P" bracket on Princess 35.
The options.
Insurance route.
Boat would need to be lifted if and when somebody was found to do the job, quotes obtained and approved by insurance company.
As nobody seemed to know (inc Princess) who had produced the original "P" brackets, a new one would need to be cast at eyewatering expence (who cares the Insurance co would pay) but the delay could amount to weeks and months ashore .
DIY.
Contacted insurance co to confirm they would pay up if I did the job...no problem they said.
Boat lifted .Old shaft removed along with bent " P" bracket. Only 6 bolts holding on.
New shaft made up by T Norris in about a week.
"P" bracket taken to this lot
Invicta Marine | Propulsion | Propellers | Thrusters
About 30 mins under their 50 ton press.
Boat back in water 24 hours later.
Sorted in under two weeks.
Insurance paid up immediately.
Oops..

We had ours snake off doing similar with mooring chain, was not that difficult to replace, lots of cutting and grinding inside as it was fixed inside and not on flange plate. New one was solid cast bronze and old was hollow cast and a bit thin

new prop shaft and p bracket from T Norris

What make of boat? Reason I ask is Moody P brackets are offset to starboard as standard to allow the shaft to clear the rudder.
