Beneteau Swift Trawler 37 - new

You clearly have a chip on your shoulder about the boat labelling - but it is just that. And if anything you should be happy that the new model is correcting previous inaccuracies.
Most people would be more interested in what they get for their money (which seems a bit of a bargain this is case), and whether it fits in their berth constraints (physical and cost).
If you choose not to look at what sounds like a great boat, much improved over the previous model at a lower price, due to pique over lanes - then there is only one person losing out :—)
Now now. No need for insults.. It's just an opinion. I'm not accusing you of being an arse.. (Yet!)

I think that by clever use of space you do get a bigger boat.....these are a very high volume boat so there is lots of user feedback. There’s a few things I would like to check...but on first impression of the video it’s a job well done

I think the ST37 looks fantastic.. finally got a proper shower cubicle instead of a wet room and loads of natural light with the roof hatches 🛥️

I will buy one in about 20 years 😂
Agreed. It seems to me that they have taken a popular model and meaningfully improved it in lots of very sensible and useful ways without losing core aspects of its original appeal (such as its compact size and relatively low price), which is to be applauded. 🙂

To me the layout is miles better than the 35 and I a,ways assumed and then confirmed it’s the same hull. A proper shower, more forward facing seats and the handy little work table all make it quite practical. My concern from the video is engine access for daily checks.

In the 34 there is a really nice dining table...beautifully made but ridiculously heavy....that needs two people to move it every time you lift the engine hatch....that table now lives in my basement

Be interesting to see how many of the new 37 are sold and then starting appearing second hand -still only has the one engine it appears but might make the older 34/35 ones cheaper maybe in secondhand market

The single engine shaft drive is a massive benefit of this model imo, loads of space to work around the engine and cheap to maintain. A DIY’ers dream.

Yes I haven’t really got to grips with whether 2 engines as on larger ones are way to go or trust to the one unit- I can see it might help on costs and I guess less fuel and maintenance - it’s the same approach though as Nimbus etc so Bene are not alone -I just wonder if for channel crossings and manovers etc 2 are preferred.

If the stern and bow thrusters are working....the boat is extremely maneuverable except when the wind is blowing.....it has a large rudder and large prop...so using single engine maneuvering techniques are effective. The Cummins engine has an extremely good reputation.....this has now been replaced by a Yanmar...which also has a good reputation.

In many many ways....it’s the boat I wish I bought in the first place.....would I replace like for like ?....no....would I give more money to Beneteau ?....no

This is a matter of personal taste....but of all the good things, the one thing I don’t like is the new kitchen layout. I like the kitchen up front and the lounge to have as large a footprint as possible. This has allowed me to remove the original two man sofa bed....and replace it with a fully reclining two man electric recliner sofa. This increases the confort abord for two people (and only two people) immensely

I can see the benefit of that if there's only ever two of you on board, whereas to my mind, having seating for just two people in the saloon, sat side by side staring across the cabin, was a major failing of the old boat.

And another was the lonely helm position unless someone wanted to stand in the galley, or perch on a galley unit. I far prefer the new layout.

But each to their own of course. :)

Two people and a dog was my manifest.....occasional day guests....but they usually prefer to be outdoors. Kitchen work surface is tight with existing set up but we improvise.....the pilot seat is a two maner but you have to warn people not to smash their head on the overhead beam when they jump on the seat.....but I find 90% of warnings to people on a boat is about not hitting your head....and all in all, compared to many boats, the ST range are good about head clearance

I understand it’s the same hull as the 35… so the Ancasta sales guy told me.. Wondering if the switch from Cummins power to Yanmar power has something to do with US/ Europe tariffs vs Japan/Europe tariffs?
Cummins QSB6.7 are british built.

Don't get me wrong I think it will be an excellent boat. I like the 34 and particularly the 35 so if done well, an effectively 'improved' 35 will very good but with with what they try and cram into a 35, an extra couple of feet and a little extra on the beam would have been good for me so I am disappointed the 37 didn't become that. The next model up is 44ft overall so it's quite a jump.

This is unfortunately a common trend...boat manufacturers searching for ever richer customers and building only big boats. And to their credit, Beneteau have stuck with the small boat market.....so they usually have something in the size you want. But they certainly won’t build the boat you want...until you’ve bought the one you didn’t want 🤔

I agree to their credit Beneteau have successfully stuck with a relatively small boat flybridge cruiser. On a not too serious note, I wonder if any 37 owners will be expected to pay more to moor their boats than the 35 owner. :D

Over here we have the grey card which has the dimensions which most ports go by...but it’s not unusual to see someone from the Capitainerie with a tape measure. In my port the boat was taken out of the water to be measured....not because I’m a naughty boy....but because they took every boat in the port out the water

Brutal. I was measured at my marina (which seems a bit err inconsistent) but she wasn't lifted for CSI to bring their forensic analysis gear down.
