Beneteau Swift Trawler 37 - new

When I bought new for a German boat in UK The contract was for a fixed price in £s and the dealer arranged a forward contract for the Euros. In earlier times I bought another German boat through a Greek dealer that was priced in DMs and I bought a forward contract to achieve a fixed price in £s. On both occasions currency fluctuations were greater than they are now and using forwards definitely saved a lot.
The dealer offered both options, but they were upfront about the fixed exchange rate including a premium to offset/reduce the exchange rate risk. So, in the end I decided to stick with euros in the contract. Wish me luck... :)

One option you have is to gradually build up the Euros over time to mitigate the risks, provided you can open Euro accounts with FSCS protection.
I did this for our purchase of a boat in Euros. It was over a shorter timeframe but I bought half the Euros early (obviously using a specialist currency exchange, not a bank who give appalling rates) to mitigate the currency movement risk. (Happier days as think was 1.3+ rate)
Enjoy the new boat. Sounds like it is headed for the Baltic, based on the stern windlass and bow options.

You can still buy your own forward if you wish to lock into fixed price in £s
Yes of course, at a price. And also a at a single rate.
But if you have time and a good currency trading account, you can monitor and buy in smaller chunks at different times to mitigate the risk, and potentially get better average rate than simply doing a single forward pricing.
In our case the deal could have fallen through and hence we didn’t want to be committed to the full amount in Euros. And overall did better than the forward price would have given us.

The price of a forward depends on the market view on forward rates. Just like any other insurance policy your decision is based on your attitude to risk. Your method is an alternative but there are other factors to consider such as opportunity cost of having funds locked in euros and maybe not earning interest. Should the deal fall through and you need the funds back in £s you may well lose on the rates plus transaction costs.

I visited Cannes to see the boat in person - and I ended up signing up for one there and then. It should be delivered late next year.
Big congrats on the order! I hope the build and delivery go as smoothly as possible. I haven't seen the model in person but I was very impressed by the review videos from Cannes. Can you confirm if the sliding backrest/seating aft is an optional extra or standard?

As others mentions, and if it's possible for you to get any, it would be really interesting to see some pictures from the build once you get to that stage - just another little plea from me :)

You have plenty of time now to think of which options you want...as most are dealer installed...unfortunately they are usually sold in packages which cost too much and don’t have everything you need. When I did it, I got canvases that I’ve never used...and had to install my own passerelle and generator at great inconvenience because i didn’t think I needed them. Good luck 👍

Yes, the sliding bench is an optional extra. Standard is a fixed railing, but with the same opening gate. I suspect most will opt for the bench.

If I'm able to get some photos from the build I'll make sure to share them!

From memory...... I ordered the grey water tank as an optional extra.....then I got offered a boat that was further along the production line....no grey water tank but earlier delivery. Unfortunately when the boat was finally ready for me...there were strong winds for nearly two months and they couldn’t launch....so I’m not sure I got any benefit from the earlier delivery
