Beneteau Oceanis 36cc?

So on my ongoing perusal of boat sales sites, I've come across this boat, the Oceanis 36cc.
I started off thinking of getting a 30 footer to liveaboard, then moved up to 33, then 34, and after reading many stories, have decided that maybe a 36 footer would be quite well suited.
So, yes, the Oceanis 36cc. It's a bit more expensive than the Moody 346 I was considering, but it is somewhat bigger, and considerably newer. Would just need to make those pennies go a little further.

Anyway, back to the boat! Does anyone have any experience of this boat? I've read some owners reviews who say it's a very beamy, spacious boat, and the sailing is pretty decent, too.
Only concern I've read is insulation is lacking, so to cater for winter months, some insulation would need to be added. Does anyone have experience of doing this? Where would the insulation go? Behind the fittings, or directly onto the walls? (My ignorance is obviously showing, but ah well!)

Anyway, any advice or comments would be very much appreciated!

We were looking at beneteau 49, but decided against it as they had sacrificed storage space for living space, so for us it just wasn't the right boat. It is a lovely boat inside though. As for insulation, don't have a clue.

Hmm, yeah, this is something that I have been wondering about. The balance between living space and storage space. You need to have enough storage space, but at the same time, there needs to be space to breathe. From what I've read, the 36cc has pretty decent storage, though I'll take a look at one to see for myself.
Apart from that, how did you find the quality of the boat in general?

I've got a 36CC (2002 build) and intend to make it a liveaboard/extended cruising in the next 12 months or so. Storage isn't great, it has to be said... but what boat has enough storage?? In my case though, there'll only be the two of us, so the forepeak cabin will be pressed into service for more bulky storage, and if we have guest...well... we'll just have to sort something out!!! I particularly dislike not having some decent size cockpit lockers. And another downside is that stowing an inflated dingy is a bit of a problem. I have mine tied up against the bathing platform... which is OK, except if you want to stern-to .... but in this case I'd have to let it be towed, and move it to a bow cleat when berthing.
Those are the down-sides... the upsides are:-
Fantastic galley.... but really fantastic. Sooooo much space. Absolutely couldn't be better. And buckets of food type storage. It's even better than those on much bigger craft. SWMBO swoons over it. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
The engine room. Again absolutely wonderful. I can virtually stand in it, and get to all parts of the engine. No contortions necessary.
The Heads. Good amount of space here as well.... although the wet locker has been used to house a holding tank...which is a bit of a bu$$er. But hey...
Concerning insulation.... I don't think this is much of an issue. We get condensation sometimes... but keep the airflow right and it's fine. However we do have heating (Erbspacher) which is more than man enough to keep us warm.
With regard to sailing... we have inmast furling... so it's never going to be spectacular.. But it's good enough for us, and saves going forward in bad weather.
All in all...I'm very happy with it. I could do with another few feet of length perhaps /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif... but doesn't everyone say this!!
And a walk-though Pulpit would be useful... but I'm working on this and have ideas about how to modify mine to make it such.
Oh yes... and one other petty gripe... being a CC the cockpit area is a little small. No table... only good enough for a max of four people. But as I say...it does us fine.

We have a lot of personal things that I want to store away for when we will no longer be living on a boat, so lots of storage was a must for us, also Terry needs somewhere for all his tools as he is a marine engineer and has thousands of pounds worth of tools, he intends to convert one of the double bunks into a toolroom/workshop area. As for the quality, I thought it was lovely. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I'm liking what I'm hearing. I'm trying to arrange some viewing of various boats in this size range. At the moment, I'm going to be looking at the Beneteau 36cc, Moody 35, and Legend 356. The Legend isn't a CC, but I did check the 34 out at the LBS and the aft cockpit wasn't too bad (though nothing quite like teh CC boats).
Anyone have any other suggestions for liveaboard boats up to around 36 foot up to the £70k price mark?

Cardo, have you thought about what the resale value of an Océanis 36CC in say 5 years' time?
Now compare it to that of a Moody 346...!
BTW, we have definitely seen 346's with cockpit tables.

I know I'm a biased Moody-owner, I've admitted it before; but you did ask for opinions!

Hmm, resale value. To be honest, I'm the type of person that isn't really bothered about that kind of stuff. If I can afford it, that's all that matters

Though, I am still looking at the Moody 346 and 35. I just want to make sure I get something big enough, so I won't be thinking "I wish I'd gone for a bigger boat when I could've afforded it"

376? I've found a Beneteau 36.7, but it's an aft cockpit boat, and thus has the smaller aft cabin, I'm looking for something that has a reasonable master cabin.
The 419 would be just a tad too big!

we bought a 36cc which we owned for a couple of years. we then sold her and moved up size wise.condensation was a problem in winter but we just fitted a humidifier which sorted it out.she was fine for 2 persons but got a bit tight for more than 2
the boat is now for sale by the 2nd owners so it might be one of the boats you are looking at.
