Yes, I should have been more expansive /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif - for category Safety the sending coast station can nominate the listening telephony channel.
If I interpret you correctly, what may be happening is that your set receives the digital (being on/off audio tones like in RTTY, not true digital) message on CH70 ok from Jobourg but you are too far away to hear the telephony on the telephony channel (ie CH80 in the case you mention). So your set switches to CH80 for you to listen on because it has received the DSC call correctly but you don't hear anything.
There would not be anything unusual in that in that audio tones such as in radio teletype will often be more easily received than telephony if the tones are not too far apart (which they aren't for DSC - 800Hz apart).
