Becoming demoralised...

I'm pretty sure that's the same princess 56 that spent the last 2 summers on a swinging mooring a couple of miles from here.
Just confused my photos as it had anchored in the middle of a mooring field, the large yacht behind it is moored.
My point is that it's not always about money, when the choice is a swinging mooring where you want your boat to be or a marina berth somewhere you don't want to be...
Choice is easy for me.
Whilst I’d be quite alarmed if our mooring swung, a marina is almost always somewhere I don’t want to be. We have no real neighbours at home, why would I want them at the boat?

If you have the time, definitely consider basing the boat in the Med. It can be cheaper, warmer plus you'll get the chance to use the boat loads more rather than sheltering from the cold, wind and rain!
Agreed
We used to keep a 51 foot flybridge boat on the Hamble so I know what the costs were - 18 years ago.
Over the last 18 years, we have kept a 20m boat in Spain for a fraction of the cost in UK waters.
For example a private berth in Sant Carles for a 15m boat can be as little as £4000 pa (including electricity and water) - and one free boat lift per year.
Couple that with warmer weather, you can actually get more use out of the boat.
You can easily pay for the extra flights out of the savings that you will make over keeping a boat in UK waters.
We also drive out as well - 24 hour ferry crossing to northern Spain, a 6 to 7 hour drive and you have your own car out there as well.
Its a no-brainer for me.
