Like your reply but being a lazy old git, it’s just the level of labour I was hoping to avoid.I dealt with a similar problem last winter, step one - modified a cardboard box to replicate battery ( 3d template)
Took template to boat and tried it in various locations until happy with attitude, cable length, fuse position etc.
Used some cardboard sheet to make templates in situ for box (short spirit level useful here) shaped gables extend to floor to take weight
Retired to workshop and made a wooden battery box, including strop for extracting battery from box, slightly oversize for plastic lining.
Made fitted lid with apertures for cables, (Boat Safety Scheme demands that batteries are covered), rope securing strap extends to floor of box.
Varnished box then bolted one side securely to bulkhead, ends are shaped to transfer weight to curved floor of locker.
Tested for robust security, fixed fuse holder on outside end of box next positive cable. Crimped new cables and modified old ones.
No good for Lead Acid batteries, the plates need to be covered.
Yes, but the acid isn't slopping around.
Indeed. Paul had suggested AGM which are lead acid and hence my comment.

Not to many car batteries are AGM!I want to add another starter battery (car type)
Not to many car batteries are AGM!
Nit picking won't help the OP much.
Sounds like you had a bad night, is self isolation getting to you?I would have suggested that almost all cars with stop/start use AGM batteries but that would be nit picking.
I suggest that you find a thread you can contribute meaningfully to.

I've just replaced all my batteries with AGM, not that much more expensive than lead, just don't buy them from Halfords. I have also built a shelf, but that is more about access and being tidy.Yes, but the acid isn't slopping around.
Without checking prices, I'd think it would be cheaper and probably more secure to build a shelf and fit a car battery than to get AGM.
No, they are not !I think that AGM batteries are also lead acid.

That is like saying a dog is a mammal, not a quadruped. AGM batteries differ from flooded lead–acid batteries in that the electrolyte is held in the glass mats, as opposed to freely flooding the plates., but the chemistry is still lead-acid.Sorry, AGM batteries, stand for Absorbed Glass Matting ! THEY ARE NOT LEAD ACID !
No, wrong... They differ, since there is no liquid to spill, dunno what theaters you have ever been in, but a lead acid battery with a couple of AK 47 rounds though it , is a dead battery !That is like saying a dog is a mammal, not a quadruped. AGM batteries differ from flooded lead–acid batteries in that the electrolyte is held in the glass mats, as opposed to freely flooding the plates., but the chemistry is still lead-acid.
