Just testing my new free service. Here are some piccies of boats and things at Porthmadog and surrounding area. Some family stuff too - sorry about being a crashing bore! BTW I'm on broadband, so not sure about you dial-up peeps.

Hello Dave,

Good pics mate.

Nice also to see what Porthmadoc Esturay looks like at low tide - in 21 years of going to that neck of the woods I have never seen it at low tide - only ever popped in for a pint/lunch and then out again.

On that note, was it you that I asked if it was safe for us to stay for a pint last Saturday afternoon/evening...if so, thankyou, was good advice. Was a bit shallow on the way out though - almost an 'oops' moment!

If you are there this weekend, then have fun. I will not be, as I need some sleep, but my Mother and Father may be pottering about.

Cheers

Ben

Looks Great Dave. Pity there isn't more of your boat.

Hello Ben - yes that was me, I remember your Targa and you had a bunch of mates on board as well. We don't see many that big in our Harbour, only at high tides!

You are always welcome to pop in for a beer. On a nice day, if we aren't out boating, then we can be found in the yacht club beer garden. Call me up on the VHF 16 or 37, my boat is "Coney Island".

By the way, when you come in next time, look out for the old pil-box (gun emplacement) on your port side as you come past the rocky part to port. This is really important because there you have to swing into your port side to pick up a port hand marker. I whinced as I saw you miss it and go right over a sand-bank to the next starboard marker. No criticism here matey - its just plain easy to miss (loads of peeps not familiar with the channel do) and I though you were going to ground your boat.

I won't be there this w/e either (boring house jobs) but I will be there the 12th or the 19th (not sure which of these two yet) and definately the 26th. I frequently get over to Pwllheli to refuel as it is the only place that sells LPG!

Nice to see you around
Dave

Yes we did nearly miss it...were going slow enough to see the depth going right down, which was lucky...was foxed by the fact that there was a yacht anchored there that looked like it was coming out of the channel, but was in fact not (obvious when you saw the anchor!).

Came in on Sunday too, but with my folks this time as opposed to mates, for a spot of lunch in the bay just before Borth. Once again we nearly cam a cropper at that turn - and that was onyl 24 hours after the last time - it is not easy to spot the next buoy, especially when the channel is full of red and green jet ski's! We had not been there for about 3 years and it was nice to re-visit.

We all remarked at how close to Pwllheli Pothmadog(/c) really is - you always seem to think of it as being miles away, when in fact, by sea at least, it is no further away than Abersoch.
