We decided to not join the ARC for a number of reasons. One of them was that at 39’ we would have been the fifth smallest boat out of the fleet. All power to the OP’s new friend. We’re anchored in Carlisle Bay, Barbados atm and there are several 30’ boats here that have obviously crossed on a budget. Good luck to them all. At least they’re doing it and not tied up in a Marina for 99% of the time like so many boats are.

edited -wrong island!
If you’ve been in Carlisle bay for more than a few days you’ve probably noticed how little the moored boats are used, except for the daily tourist ones. Lovely place to be but we never looked foreword to wading the dinghy out deep enough to start the motor at the end of a long night ashore.

Very impressive man and boat. Must say I love my little Corribie. Not quite set up for long-distance SH atm but she is now seaworthy and comfortable. I will get there.

Not sure I qualify as mad but have done one major and one minor wooden boat refits. Twice is enough for me. GRP all the way from here (although I was mooching around an old Hullyard a couple of weekends ago).
