Have had a quick look at your links and rather than detract, they rather support the current situation so still not bothered.

As everybody's situation is different, those affected would be well advised to do their own research as we have done ours and ignore scare stories and other distractions. :encouragement:

Finally, those who are frit would probably be better off based in Portugal.;)

Why dish out advice then?

Why make it personal:confused: :(

'My advice' - to question rubbish posted by others.:p

Doesn't detract from the case that folk would be best served by doing their own research but does give them a few pointers.:encouragement:

A trawl through relevant topics from those who know (rather than just guess) could be another worthwhile pursuit. :encouragement:

Most of the questions asked have already be explored in much detail. Again by those who know what they are talking about.;)

Your constant editing of your posts is making this impossible to follow properly, but maybe thats your objective. You advised the chap to take residency not me or anybody else.

The chap posted about living on a boat in Spain, are you saying you gave him bad advice on purpose?

Nope - far from it.

I state facts broadly based on experience in Iberia - but mainly Portugal.

As to the future, who knows but the sounds coming from the authorities in the counties in question are in the main positive. Especially Portugal. :encouragement:

I have Portuguese Residencia so out of interest, do you have Spanish Residencia and how difficult was it to get?

Nope - edit to make the story as complete as possible and correct my errors. Site keeps dumping so this doesn’t help❗

I would add that like others on this forum, I am mildly dyslexic, not as severely afflicted as some but it means at times I have to rearrange my jumble of words and spelling to make some sense - others can judge my success.✔️

Advising somebody to take residency❓Not me, I just state the options - others make their choice.

As a resident you benefit from your host countries health service so there is no requirement for additional insurance. You may even be able to apply for an EHIC from you host country; for use in other EU countries, in the unlikely event that the UK EHIC doesn't survive Brexit.

Foreign Identity Card (TIE) for Non EU Nationals
Non-EU nationals authorised to stay in Spain for more than 6 months must apply for a Foreign Identity Card (Tarjeta de identidad de extranjero - TIE) within one month of arrival.
The following documents are required in order to apply for a Foreign Identity Card (TIE):
....
Proof that the applicant has medical insurance cover in Spain'

Proof that the applicant has medical insurance cover in Spain'

That's the killer for the over 70s. The UK issued EHIC may become invalid if they find out you're resident elsewhere and may cease to exist anyway after B day - if it ever happens.

Yes we have Spanish residency (not citizenship, or registry, which doesn't exist), also we have a small company which means we pay tax, in turn that puts us in the healthcare system and will mean we will receive a small pension from the Spanish state. So that means when I buy my next boat it will have a Spanish Flag and my ICC will be null and void, so I will sit my Yachtmasters or go for the Spanish permit

Many thanks for you message.

It reinforces the point that despite all of the helpful advice, as all of our circumstances differ, it is important to do our own research.

Ref Spanish citizenship, you may find:-https://www.expatica.com/es/moving/citizenship/spain-citizenship-107634/ interesting.

Must admit that I thought that visiting yachts had to register within a month of arriving if they intended to remain in Spanish waters for more than 3 months - I stand corrected.

You can do a practical yachtmaster's course and assessment in Portugal so the same must be true in Spain but as you have nailed tour Spanish credentials to your mast, why not get a Spanish permit or do you have to do the assessment in Spanish? Well beyond my Spanish capabilities!

So as far as I can see you have no practical advice for anyone.

Once again you have to personalise it. :( Not my style.:D

I don’t offer advice, I just make observations based on nearly 20 years in Iberia and a fair bit of personal research.

It is up to others to act as they fit.

Others can judge the value of my efforts.

You are personalising it by offering your opinions.

As I have observed elsewhere, you really are the master of the twisted word.

Voicing an opinion personalises nothing but accusations and name calling does.

This silly spat has no place in a forum that aims to help fellow liveaboards.

As you please.

Possibly you feel more comfortable in another place where word duels are more common place. :p

Now possibly we can back to trying to assist the OP in his quest. :encouragement:
