Anyone bought from this website

In the past 24 hours there have been almost 500 attempted visits to the site from non-UK people, almost all of those will be hackers. The firewall on the website itself seems to do a good job of keeping them at bay, but i get reports daily of morons around the globe trying to gain access to the site by trying to log in to the admin account. The website now goes through a firewall at Cloudflare, which blocks all no-UK IPs and i rarely get any warnings of dodgy activity.
You may be overedtimating the level of hackers amongst the overseas attempts...

It was unavailable to me a few weeks ago (presumably because I live outside of the moat) so if it is only in the last 24 hrs that your non UK IP rule was put into operation you had a problem with identifying non threats long before then.

Btw I am not a hacker and have no malignent intent was simply curious having seen your eulogy ,and when I Googled your site I saw hints at page content which looked interesting...

Well I was bewildered as to why you (seemingly) didn't have a website. I expected to see a photo of the business facade "about us" , contact numbers etc. but nothing.......

So then I did a business search on "Rainbow Marine" and found your real name and the fact that you work from your home unit in Freemantle .

But what is your specialty? You seem to have very strong views in a number of areas. Now you tell me your specialty is wiring up boats I can relax!:D

If they are trying to sell me something, too bloody right I do.

I like to see the whites of their eyes before I do business.

Fortunately in the UK and Australia we can do a Company search to find out who the company's principals are, the address of the business as well as contact information.

I do have a website, the address is in my signature. It is accessible from the UK, which is where i'm located and as i don't travel to Australia to work there is no need to do otherwise.

You need to practice your searching. I am based in Suffolk, on the East coast of the UK (as i said in post #41). I have a website, it shows my telephone number and a contact form. There are many people on this forum who have met me and there are even more on the East Coast forum here at YBW.

I am a sole trader, so you won't find anything about me at Companies House. Anyone in the UK who wants to contact me can, from my website.

This thread is about a potential SCAM website, so why are you repeatedly questioning my website and who i am ?

As i'm based in the UK and you are in Australia, why do you feel the need to see my website or know what it is i do ?

I suggest you tread very, very carefully here.

I would only be happy using a business that has a gmail address if there was only 1 employee who drove a white van for work purposes.
I agree. And only if I knew them personally.

A proper business will have proper infrastructure. Scammers and fraudsters will take short cuts like gmail addresses.
Or they may use email addresses which are similar to established businesses, but subtly different.

Why should I "tread very, very, carefully here"?

What I don't get is how you can have a website "RainbowMarine" when there is a registered company owned by Stephen Keenan called RAINBOW MARINE CONSULTANCY LIMITED (That company has been dissolved in the last month)

In Australia as a Sole Provider you can operate in your own name e.g Paul Rainbow Marine Electrical Service but if you operate as "Rainbow Marine" you would have to apply to have that name registered. (That is so that people can find who they have been dealing with in the event of a dispute)

There is no way our Corporate Regulators in Australia would register a business name so similar to one already in existence.

As I said I used to teach Corporate Law and Consumer Law and I am just curious as to how your corporate law differs from Australian Corporate Law

I am in the UK, not Australia.

This is PBO, these posts have no place or relevance here and how i run my business is none of your business.

In the UK there is control over limited company names, but not over business names.
A bit of historical information:

‘The Registry of Business Names (RBN) was created under the Registration of Business Names Act 1916. It was originally intended as a record of enemy aliens or former aliens who were not trading under their own names, but later served as a register of persons or firms trading under a business name other than their own. Persons or bodies trading in their own names were not required to register. Under the Companies Act 1947 the register was extended to cover limited companies trading under a different business name.

The main particulars registered were the business name, general nature of the business and principal place of business, as well as details of names and nationality of owners, partners etc. The Companies Act 1947 repealed the regulations regarding the disclosure of nationality and amended the regulations regarding the disclosure of former names. The register was never comprehensive. It has been estimated that only 50-60% of those required to register did so, and that many cessations and changes of ownership were never registered.

Following a review of the registration of companies and business names in 1980-81, the Companies (No. 2) Act 1981 repealed the act of 1916 and the relevant sections of the Companies Act 1947. The registry was then closed on 26 February 1982.’
