Well it doesn't exactly scream multi-national business. It is a pretty strong indicator of a very small business and therefore merits more scrutiny. Gmail addresses aren't exactly difficult to get and you really have no idea who you are dealing with, especially with no other contact details.

I have dealt with people using gmail (gardeners, people starting out etc.) but would worry about a web-site with gmail as the only means of contact.

I would only be happy using a business that has a gmail address if there was only 1 employee who drove a white van for work purposes.

in my view any website /provider /host would also supply secure email facilities which would usually look like sales@website.com or similar. Any business that has a presence on the web in terms of a large website selling an assortment of goods should want to have their emails linked to their website /identity etc.. those that would prefer to operate with a free email service should be looked at carefully,

I did a google. ?

Have a look at this.

I bought from this online shop more than 1 month ago, just the payment was success: no mail confirmation, no feedback, no reply to several reminder, no shipment, they simly stolen my money. After claim through Bank I got my money back, an investigation is still open, my suggestion is to keep far away, to avoid time&money loss!

Some people on this forum oppose the use of google (and online calculators/tables) but I use them all the time. (Maybe they are the modern day Luddites!)

I did a google search on "Scam Ineeciof" to get the link you used and a whole lot of further information on the "organization".

Any website that has no physical address or phone number on it "About Us" page or contact page has to be dodgy.

Whoa! That's a bit over the top?

Just because a website doesn't disclose a telephone number, the business address and "About us" you label them as crooks?

Yes, because in the EU (and currently in the UK, and unlikely to change) a company must give a physical address on its website if it's selling something via that website. It's in the Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002.

Si anas similis est, natat ut anas, et sonat anatis, verisimile est anatem.

Well I just tried to access Rainbow Marine website to see if that is the case but I can't (I just get garbage).
Does anyone else have that problem?
Rainbow Marine

Certainly in Australia a company must give a physical address and they must trade in the registered business name. If they don't have a Registered Business name they must trade in their given names and surname. (I used to teach Company Law and Consumer Law in Australia)

Of course if the trader is not a Registered Company or not trading in their actual names you would have Buckley's chance of recovering any money that may be due to you. How would you find them?

Would do you feel you need to check if my website "is the case" ?

FYI, my website shows my telephone number and has an email contact form.

My website firewall denies access to non-UK visitors.

Given this, why would you make post #31 ?

OK that explains why I couldn't access your website.

(Of course I have no idea what your business activities are)

Obviously doing so is entirely your entitlement....but why restrict access to your site from non UK folks..?.

I would have thought anyone with nefarious thoughts would be able to access it relatively easily, so the restriction is only affecting benign visits!

Just asking...not having a go...

In the past 24 hours there have been almost 500 attempted visits to the site from non-UK people, almost all of those will be hackers. The firewall on the website itself seems to do a good job of keeping them at bay, but i get reports daily of morons around the globe trying to gain access to the site by trying to log in to the admin account. The website now goes through a firewall at Cloudflare, which blocks all no-UK IPs and i rarely get any warnings of dodgy activity.

Yes, simple enough to get around. I think it is just part of Paul's plan to limit access to Norfolk and Suffolk (well certain parts of Suffolk). :D

I'm in Suffolk.

I dare say it's not difficult to get around, if you can spoof an IP address. There's still other firewall rules and a second firewall on the web server. Stopping non-UK traffic dramatically reduces hacking attempts, to almost zero. I guess the hacking bots aren't that smart.
