Where do I go for a reasonable mooring for overnight in falmouth. Is there such a thing .

I enjoy the yacht haven. Not to sure on the price nowadays but it does depend upon what you mean by reasonable.

If you are say12-13m I reckon 70 a night at a yacht haven

Go up the Truro river and see if you can get onto the mid river pontoons. Book via Truro harbourmaster.

£50 for 37ft in the yacht haven. Mooring buoy at St Mawes about £25. Or anchor up the Fal for about £7.

I've just paid £86.48 for two nights with a 9.4 metre boat at Falmouth Haven Marina ( yacht haven ). I'm now on a pontoon up the Fal for £14.40 a night. Apparently Falmouth Marina ( near Penryn ) is charging £5.40 per metre per night.
When I went in to Falmouth Haven Marina I fully expected to be told that there was no room or to be rafting three or four deep, given the time of year. I got an alongside berth. Talking to Haven staff, and subsequently to Truro Harbour staff, the impression seems to be that things are very quiet. I don't know if there are outside factors such as weather, or everyone going abroad for holidays, or if Falmouth are starting to price themselves out of the market like Salcombe did.

A pal of mine always used Port Pendennis which is very upmarket but actually cheaper than the oddly expensive council offering at Falmouth Haven. I usually anchor myself so can't really comment
I have often, very often, used a visitor mooring at St Mawes and have never been charged, I think the Harbourmaster only turns out on busy days. The anchorage is very good and FOC anyway.
Up the river is magnificent, either anchoring or on the fixed mid river pontoons. Truro control it and are hyper active at collecting fees but no need to book, indeed I doubt if it is possible.

If you're shallow enough, right at the top, you can go on a walk ashore at Malpas. Went in a boat with lifting keel (1.45m) and still afloat at bottom of a spring tide.

Thanks guys as I suspected falmouth is going to be pricey. But her indoors wants to go to the town. But I've had 2 free nights at St mawes and 2 free nights at trelessick. Not seen a harbour master?

Stay at the yacht haven. Walk ashore with wife and disappear in the nearest pub whilst she carries on into the town.
When I was last there, 2019, the town had quite a few closed up shops and seemed to be filling up with designer, pasty and charity shops.
I should add that I'm not a marriage councillor and using my advice is at your own risk !

We spent a couple of weeks in the anchorage off Flushing. Decent dinghy with 15hp and you are in town in about 5 mins. Zero cost. Nice walks along the Flushing coast.

He needs to keep clear of Trefusis Point, traditionally a free anchorage, I saw a girl collecting money there this summer, early morning.
They had a change of management at Falmouth a few years ago and they are going for every last penny.

We were there in 2021. Nobody was charging for anchoring. Its a designated anchorage.

We anchor outside the harbour limit in Carrick Roads. No charge. Lots of boats doing the same when we were there. It does help having a heavy comfortable boat not effected by wash from other boats

The harbour limits are probably bigger than you think. This is from their masterplan from 10 years ago:
Can't see the proper info, their website won't work unless I accept all cookies. I think the only thing that stops then nailing everyone is the cost of motoring around in circles collecting. The masterplan does say the chief priority is creating jobs
A bit rum that a Silhouette has to pay the same to anchor as a 39 footer.

Best pub is The Front, on the quay behind trago, under the Harbour lights chippy. You can take your fish and chips down to the pub. Real ales, under a fiver, well under in some cases.
I chatted to a couple who had just been in the chain locker and paid £18, for the same drinks that were £11 in the Front.
I'm going to start a campaign to get pubs to display prices properly. The Front does.
I've said this before, but where else do you buy at retail and not know what the price is before you choose, and since you 'tap the card' you often don't find out.
