Antifoul woes..

One of the prettiest drives is along the Moyenne Corniche, and the haute Corniche above Cap Ferrat, looking down on the coast towards the old mountain top village of Eze. Its the one the classic iconic 'must see' south of France experiences that hasn't been ruined by modern honky-tonk development along the rest of the coast.

I did that drive a few years ago. Had a day to kill in the SofF so drove from St Tropez to Monaco. Its a beautiful part of the world.

It's also worth driving up behind Monaco to see the view from the Palace hotel, where all the para-gliders jump off the cliff. The road into Monaco from from the east side has a few nice views, but don't bother going further east into Menton or the Italian border and Ventigmilia as its not very nice.

And Monaco itself......it wouldn't be fair to comment. View attachment 30839

Update: We went down to Sevo earlier this week and, as many of you predicted, we discovered the props had grown loads of grunge over the past few months.
Dirty props.jpg

I lifted the legs into 'Beach' position and then spent the next few hours scrubbing them clean with a scraper and brass wire brush, until they looked like this;
Clean props.jpg

I then went out on the water and Sevo buzzed straight up to 32knots, some 10knots better than before the spruce-up. I didn't get a chance to clean the legs as well but I'm sure if I had (or done a longer passage), the speed would have risen even further.

The only problem I encountered was when I lowered the legs down to their working position (around '-5'), the port leg dial went awol and now flashes constant red lights, rather than showing the correct angle of attack. I can't adjust the leg at all, the hydraulic motor will operate when you press the down arrow but because it's fully down anyway, it doesn't move because it's against the stops. Press 'up', though, and nothing happens. It's as if the leg has lost it's reference point for some reason. Has anyone else experienced this?

Anyway, many thanks for all your help and advice, I had no idea just cleaning the props would make so much difference.

p.s. I was also told it was worth applying 'Prop Speed' to the props next time she's out of the water but I've never heard of it before..

It's most likely a trim relay .,there are 2 for each motor - one down one up .simple test swap em round and try .
At the same time clean up ( WD40 ) the spade contacts - they corrode = poor contact.
Uk price circa £ 30-40 each.
In France- Junction 41 down the A8 for Mandelieu takes you to Volvo Penta France here they cost € 60 ish

Props - next time out acid clean - metal primer then 2 x coats Trilux 33 - you can use this on your flaps and the drive body too .
