Antares 760 thread

If the current draw does not exceed the BMS max current it will work fine, if it does exceed the max current you can fit a BMS bypass switch for emergency starting.
But I think impossible with “all in one” battery and also with 200Ah battery for 3kW starter.

Then don't buy cheap and nasty batteries with built in BMS
and also with 200Ah battery for 3kW starter.
A 200Ah LFP battery will start an engine, it would certainly start yours. How do you thin it starts with something like a 90Ah LA battery ? It all isn't about Ah anyway, it's about Amps and you can get an awful lot of Amps out of a 200Ah LFP battery in an awful hurry.

I recently bought a Lowrance Point 1 electronic compass/GPS puck for radar overlay on my plotter and I wondered if there was a preferred good location to fit it.
Instructions say keep it away from magnetic sources, vhf, electric motors and engines etc.. Quite hard on a 26ft boat :)

I was planning to remove an old redundant Raymarine GPS sensor that is still on the roof and replace with the Point 1.
That seems to be a reasonable spot out the way and hopefully avoid drilling unnecessary new holes.

Anyone else successfully fitted one or similar?

Assuming nothing under the roof, that should be fine.

Not fitted one but hopefully your magnetic compass below it is far enough away. On most of the 760s I have seen there is a radio speaker in the roof panel inside immediately below that position?

Ah yes that's a good point, I have a pair of small speakers inside below on the headliner... I'll try it out and see if the heading sensor works ok. If not, i can remove or relocate the speakers, don't really use the original stereo much tbh as they're really weak.

I did say "Assuming nothing under the roof" ;)

Regarding your question on a different thread regarding the silver strip to the bottom of your Antares 760's windscreen , i used self adhesive aluminium foil tape. It soon lost its reflective shiny surface, but then beter matched all the aluminium framing, and has lasted 2 years and showing no sign of needing replacement soon. Anyway, a simple job to remove and apply new.

Thanks Plum! Will have a look for some of that tape... If it was a particular brand you can remember the name of please let me know.
I've used Hammerite Smooth for a few years since the original stuff broke up in patches but it always looks a bit rough even when applied with care.

My 760 is a 2006 model and the lining of the channels in which the windows slide look ripe for replacement.

Has anyone removed the windows and or sourced replacement window channels?

I have emailed the local Beneteau dealer, but don't live in hope as I received no response last time.
Did you find a supplier of the sliding window rubber channels?

Does anyone on here have a diagram of the fuel tank on the 760 or photos of the tank removed? I need to know where the pick up and return ports are and my boat is currently in a dry stack.

Haven't got good pictures but they are both on the starboard end at the top. In this pic, looking forward, you can see the pickup port top corner nearest the camera with the fuel shut off valve.

The return goes in on the top surface in the corner. In pic above it is beyond the filler hose. In the pic below you can just see it in the centre with the filler to the right of it.

With the pick up coming ut of the side does anyone know what the actual pickup tube inside the tank looks like? Is it a metal tube or plastic? I'm getting air in my fuel and a split pick up is one of the item I want to check.

Hi. I’m moving to the dark side and have put a deposit on an Antares 760. I’ve gathered a lot of info now on these boats, And the seller is very well known to my current broker.
I’m trying to decide if I should get it surveyed. I’ve watched the survey of my current sailing boat, and wonder if one would uncover anything the seller doesn't know about his boat or just generate a long list of minors and a big bill!

I can see you guys know these boats well. What do you think?

I didn't get our surveyed. It may have picked up the dodgy fuel pipe that eventually failed and collapsed, but I hadn't noticed it when I looked it over, so maybe not. Has it got a good and regular service history?
