Another Marina Idea

Hi,

Was walking across Blackfriars Bridge last week and noticed that one of the piers has become vacant just in front of the "President" floating bar place. It looks like it has water and leccy pipes runing down to it...and theres a big gap between it and the next pier on the embankment. And its access all states of tide no locks etc.

So as I am always moanin about the lack of places to go in London I wondered if anyone had any idea what it would cost to put some pontoons in and make a new place to go?

Would have thought would be able to charge a mint for overnight stay as right next to covent garden etc....

He isn't talking about HMS President just downstream of St Kats. Which as you rightly say is RNVR & RNR. He is referiing to the old white Steamer called President upstream.

Assuming the PLA would let you, assuming the Watermen didn't make life too hard for you, assuming you have a iron sided boat that loves a bashing. Good idea ;-)

yeah.. the tide whip's through there...and docking would need to be like the water taxis do i.e. straight into rubber buffers each side... not the best nights sleep either..unless you can diverting top flow of water away from boats

Think you'll find that the ship presedent is still RNVR. Used to get invited to have a beer or 2 in the bar there. I think its still used as a training establishment.

As for sleeping and getting a pounding. I never had any trouble getting off to sleep in Waterloo Pier Police station. People usually slowed down past the nick then speeded up once they were past. A phone call to our buddies at Wapping usually got the dimmer ones their just deserts for waking a slumbering plod.
