True on the ups and the downs though, and they can't sensibly heat domestic hot water or engines so it's not a clear victory aside from their better availability and choice. Hot water in radiators might only annoy you once an hour with the tick tick tick pump, and arguably Refueler's LPG solution will not have any irritating noise at all so if gas availability isn't an issue is probably the best solution overall. Not to mention, he doesn't have to buy anything new and expensive to use it!
I have no problem to use LPG system .... IF I can get a manual or info on it .... so far I cannot find anything .... Difficult to read all the label as its half hidden by the safety mesh etc.

I'm wary of disturbing it too much ... but I know that I will have to whatever I decide ...

Seller told me that hot system was disconnected when engine / electrics were redone by insurance after boat took on water ... the engine exhaust was ruptured by stowing kedge anchor on it !!!! How that caused water into cabin - he never explained !!! But looking carefully at woodwork etc. - its obvious that the water level never approached the radiators or heater unit ... the woodwork has no signs of 'tide' as normally occurs.

Its unknown how much of the original ducting is still connected / serviceable .... IF it is - then putting original system back in good order - with safety checks and alarms of course - may be way fwd.

The question is though ... if this 100euro air heater can be set up to have air ducting replace the water radiators ... then maybe its cheaper and more viable way to go ??

The LPG ballon is large on this boat ... like the ones you see on live-aboards !! And a right ***** to get in / out of transom locker. If I go diesel system - I can reduce the ballon size ...

OK ... question ....

The Vevor like many others says up to 75dB sound .... that is louder than normal conversation ...

Starting to make me think that the unit will need to go into an insulated 'box' at rear of transom locker to reduce that dB ... but then what about the unit and keeping it from overheating ??

With a silencer on exhaust AND combustion air intake they’re not noisy. Certainly if tucked away in a locker or cabinet you’ll hardly hear it. A while back there was one brand (not Vevor) that had a better rep for build quality than the other ‘Chinaspachers’. Can’t remember which, but someone else on here might know.

Edit: did some googling, the make people rate is “Lavener”

OK .... have a Vevor Diesel Heater system coming from Czech Republic .... yes its Chinese ..... 100 Euros inc Shipping ..... 5KW but then they applied a discount !! 95 all in ...

VEVOR 2/5/8kW Dieselheizung Standheizung Luftheizung Air Heater Lufterhitzer | eBay

I know that I will have to change out pipes / clips etc. - watched loads of Youtube on this item ..... luckily local shops should be able to supply the gear ...

One thought crossed my mind ... whether its exhaust could be routed into the engine exhaust - saving cutting another outlet in transom ? Would have to be careful that water coolant doesn't get back to heater ... ?????

The heater exhaust pressure, supplied by a small fan, will be a lot lower than that pushed out by the pistons of your engine. The burnt engine gases will be pushed back up into the heater.

That was my concern as well as the water issue.

I don't think even adding fan capacity would be solution either - even if it could work - the increased air draw could cause problems for diesel combustion ...
