Anodes

Buying a boat that has brackish water anodes on but she has just been put into the sea. Will I have enough protection for a week or so until I can get her trucked home?
they must have some zinc in?

Brackish as in Aluminium. Yes plenty. They'll last longer than zinc and give better protection. Or do you mean Magnesium? Sure, they wont fizz on you immediately but they wont last much of a season either. You'd be pretty much fine for a week without any anodes tbh. Unless there is a major stray current issue but then anodes wont be much use to you then either

Thanks for the reply Bruce. We were driving back to Falmouth from the Hamble after viewing the boat and I had a sudden panic when it dawned on me. Hence the question via my phone. Also managed to get hold of a surveyor friend later who also set my mind at rest.
Anyway, agreed to buy the boat and she will be lifted out on Wednesday and arrive at mine on Thursday.

Probably not

Sounds like aluminium anodes which are suitable on fresh or salt water .

Since found out that they are magnesium, but given that she will have only been in for a fortnight in total I am not to concerned. In addition, the battery isolators are off and the shorepower disconnected.

So to update: I am now the proud owner of an Aquador 32. My wife pinged across the last of the money yesterday so now officially ours. She is not young, 1999 but in great condition and the previous owner, a total gent, had done a lot of work and upgrading in his ownership. As mentioned above, she will be arriving in my yard on Thursday. A relief to get her away from the money pit that is the Hamble.

Nice boat the Aquador 32 - has it got the big Yanmar in it?

Sadly not, a VP KAMD44. Not my first choice of engine but in the current market beggars can't be choosers. She is still good to cruise at 17kts with five onboard and 400l of fuel so happy with that. The Aquador was our preference, partly the boat in general but the side doors and walk around decks were a major factor too.
