Anybody use a waterproof borescope linked to an Apple Phone to look under their boat and if so, which is the best one to get❓

I had an endoscope about 20 years ago (2005) but left it on boat when sold.

It was reasonable but they must have improved a lot since then.

Plan to inspect anodes/stern gear so what is the best spec❓

There was a similar thread to this a week or two back. The problem with borescopes is they are designed to have a very short focal distance.

You are better off with a fishing camera. Amazon.com : fishing camera

Actually, some have a longer focal distance but not always easy to find that out from the selling site. Mine works well for the prop but I can't find it for sale anymore 😕 despite the low rating I found it was good and am still using it 7 years later Amazon.co.uk

Thanks just found it.

I was rather hoping for a recommendation from a satisfied customer as what to buy. Of course, what to avoid would be equally useful.

These things are pretty cheap now. Especially the type that use your phone screen.

Mine connects via wifi. I could look at the make & model but bound to have changed since I got mine a few years ago.

Try the usual cheap websites.

I tape to an extended boat hook to view prop anodes. Usually shows the fouling too 😐

All works well enough as long as you keep the top end, where the electronics are, dry.

I realise the East Coast extends the full length of the country but I can't imagine being able to see a lot underwater in my neck of the woods. I think it would need x-rays for that!

Yes, lots of murky water on the East Coast. The river Crouch is far from clear but this was taken without x-rays 😁

Must have been a clear day on the crouch! I can barely see the rudder on my boat from the pontoon at essex marina
I get the best pictures on a falling neap tide, on a bright day and without the borescope illumination turned on. With the integral illumination the light just reflects off the silt that is in suspension and spoils the picture.
