My Seawolf 520 has given up the ghost and needs to be replaced. The gypsy was on the left with the drum on the right facing the bow. I would like to replace it with a similar all above deck to use 10mm chain but cannot find anything as all the windlass units I have seen have the gypsy on the right. Can anyone suggest a make and model?

I'm sure with my Quick the gypsy and drum can be removed and reversed. If you can't find anything to that effect in the spec then make a few calls to suppliers/manufacturers.

On current Quick windlasses, you can add a drum on the right-hand side, outside the gypsy, but I don't think you can swap the gypsy to the left.

You may be right. I've just checked my manual and it doesn't mention swapping the gypsy and drum so it's probably not possible.

It shows two different gypsy+drum models ..... one is mine with the gypsy on the right and the drum on the left and the other has the gypsy on the right and the drum outside that, as you suggest.

There are the South Pacific windlasses from Boat Gear Direct. They are all left-handed gypsies but only 8mm I think. No rope drum either.
