Anchor swivel

More often than not it's on it's side barely dug in, even if I think I've set it by going astern.
How much chain are you letting out while going astern?
I normally use not more than twice the depth to properly set the anchor, and release the rest afterward.
Works for me.

Yes I do the same if I'm overnighting. But just for day anchoring, I let out around 3x the depth whilst going slowly astern and attempt to set the anchor using one engine. I dont like to use both engines going astern to set the anchor because it puts a hell of a load on the winch if the anchor sets suddenly

OK so I have gone through this whole thread and I really want to try on of those "twist" swivels that was shown to help get the anchor back in the block correctly. I have a Princess 46 Riviera and live in Southern California and I have been having the anchor come up the wrong way a lot recently causing me some grief. Where can you order this cool swivel from?

Thanks

I got mine from here http://www.chandlerysupplies.co.uk/html/the_twist.html but as you can see, its a really lousy website. The manufacturer might be Osculati and the Twist is certainly offered on their website http://www.osculati.com/cat/Scheda.aspx?id=245. Not sure whether they'll ship to the USA but worth an e-mail

As Deleted User says - they are made by Osculati - as in his link.

Thanks for the contacts guys. I sent them all e-mails lets see who replies to get my business. I can't wait to get this and give it a try. I am sick of having to leave the helm to fix a fouled anchor in the block.
