Hi Guys

Need your help and advise if possible. Dont know if im posting in the right forum but as i am aware there are many experienced boaters here i taught of giving it a try.
I own a 19 ft boat and use a 5Kg bruce anchor. I know its a bit oversized for the size of boat but honestly i feel safe using it especially in strong winds and besides it sets quickly im finding the anchor reliable.
As i store anchor in a locker under the console i am finding issue not that comfortable in case to deploy anchor rapidly or else to deploy anchor anchor i have to remove fishing gear etc etc to take out the box holding anchor. i know my question may sound silly for some but as i am aware i value lots your experiences. I was thinking of attaching my anchor to a bow roller and self launch . What are your views? I am a bit skeptical in having anchor attached to the bow especially while underway in high speeds and waves. Would it be worth it to invest in a quality roller having peace of mind that anchor would not be deployed accidentally while underway? ( thats my main concern ).

I appreciate your help, ideas, and experience and value your views.

Thanks

A Bruce anchor should self launch so you will need some means of securing the anchor. Mine is held in place under tension from the windlass with a saftey rope connected to the anchor shackle and a hard point. Its more than just bow roller though. Depending on your bow you may need an entire launching mechanism that includes the anchor shaft retraint to stop it simply bouncing out. Mine locks under a bowsprit so I only need a roller

There are lots of ways an anchor can be made secure on a bow roller so that in itself shouldn’t be a problem.

Can you post a picture of your boat and the bow configuration? It might give people some other ideas to help solve your problem.

Did you change your bow roller in 2017, or is it still a 20cm roller with 5 cm overhanging the bow.

A longer roller with a facility to trap the anchor under some tension should be fine

May be worth to protect the hull and the gel coat area nearest to the anchor with a stainless steal plate...a picture of the bow would be helpful

. I found a quality roller to buy but its expensive so would not like to make another mistake again. Anchor will trap with this roller but i cant figure out how is the best to tension anchor to roller for peace of mind that anchor would not deploy accidentally while underway and in high waves. Dont want anchor to wobble while cruising.
