Nice to see you back Robinexcuse my ignorance but 2 questions
what boats will the ladies use for their races
since the kiwis are current holders why is racing in euroland not down under
The Ladies event, like the youth one, is in a smaller version of the boats - AC40sexcuse my ignorance but 2 questions

Not just about the money in that way. NZ would most certainly not get the footfall that Barcelona had. The sponsors were largely behind the move. The Ladies event, like the youth one, is in a smaller version of the boats - AC40s
The NZ defenders moved the event to Europe as NZ / Auckland authorities weren’t prepared to pay as much money to the team as Barcelona did. Perhaps not very patriotic, but that is modern Americas Cup.
Well the sponsors bit is all about money also. Not just about the money in that way. NZ would most certainly not get the footfall that Barcelona had. The sponsors were largely behind the move.
Of course the sponsors are about money, it’s why they’re involved. But for something like the AC, you need more than a man, his wife and kids and a wet dog for an audience. Kiwis are a lovely lot, but there aren’t many of them.Well the sponsors bit is all about money also.
But there was a lot of press about the venue choice a few years ago, and they were initially aiming for Auckland. But the team were asking for more dosh than the local authorities and local sponsors were prepared to pay. A lot of bad feelings, particularly around the NZ YC that is the official defender.
look in occasionally but after losing my lovely navigator and being made homeless from living aboard there have been other priorities and problems to resolve. I do miss you lot thoughNice to see you back Robin
Plus TV rights - USA doesn't buy things that happen at 4amNot just about the money in that way. NZ would most certainly not get the footfall that Barcelona had. The sponsors were largely behind the move.
There was a lad frae Gourock that won it three times. Just saying! We still have a 173 year losing streak, the longest in history, though…
Just a shame he was a turncoat who was batting for the wrong teamThere was a lad frae Gourock that won it three times. Just saying!
Unlike that famous Italian Jimmy S.Just a shame he was a turncoat who was batting for the wrong team
He has won the Auld Mug in a Yankee boat, yes.Didn’t Sir Ben Ainslie crew for the Americans at one point?
