As it now seems a fairgone conclusion that the price of Red Diesel is going up, are there any known alternatives to 'Red Diesel' for use in Diesel heaters.

I'm thinking of the compatibility with heating fuel or some form of bio diesel, for example.

Has anyone spoken with Eberspacher / Mikuni / Webasto etc about this and got some definite answers.

Has anyone done any experiments?

You can still use red if you can get it (which may be tricky if all the marina pumps are forced to white), and if you keep it in a separate tank obviously.

You probably will not save much money - have a look at the published specifications for your heater.

Your principal problem will be the supply of fuel. Do you really want to lug cans of fuel around (OK I suppose the occasional Jerry can of kerosene won't give you backache) - but where would you get it?
