hi!

i am searching for cheap Automatci Identification Systems, suitable for small boates. I found some on the internet, but all of theme were on the websites of dealers. What I want to know is some of the manufactores of the systems. Does anybody here know some website of the manufactores or other information?

NASA marine in the UK have a new product out which listens for the AIS broadcasts and displays them graphically and textually. Haven't seen one actually for sale yet - but should be well priced.

Regards, Jeff.

I can see it now! but it isn't totally what I'm looking for.. the display isn't needed. I've got the software that displays the info.. I only need the reciever.

looking how AIS works any scanning reciever with an audio out put should do the trick.
if you have the software and reciever on the right freq should be ok.
It is only, from what I can see, a packet burst on a normal FM transmission.

Hope that helps

I have this facility on SeaPro 2000 by Euronav
but the reciever from Euronav is over £600.

If you find a cheaper reciever post it on the forum.

Not really...
AIS uses 9600 GMSK modulation. Unless you can get directly to the output from the discriminator it almost certainly won't work. Also the shape of the IF response will affect the error rate significantly.
It can be homebrewed see here
