AIS on A65 Chartlotter

I am recommissioning a boat which I bought two and a half years ago but have not been in a position to use (due to already having a boat!). I intend to fit a Raymarine A65 plotter which I also bought two and a half years ago. There is nothing in the instructions to indicate that it will display data from an AIS engine. Does anyone know if it will do this or will I need to buy an AIS "radar"?

If as a result of Raymarine A65 not being useful for AIS, you wish to sell it, I might buy it from you.:)

Raymarine AIS

On the subject of AIS, i have a raymarine e55 connected to an e7 plotter via nmea connection ( two into plotter for dsc, two out for gps to radio)

I intend fitting an ais650 and connecting to e7 via seatalk

The installation diagram shows the seatalk connection to the e7 where as the written instructions say to connect to radio via nmea as well

Any need to to connect the ais to the radio, as the nmea from radio is already into the plotter?

Sorry for thread creep!

Presumably Raymarine know what they're talking about, so why wouldn't you just follow their instructions to the letter?

I currently run a Raymarine A series plotter (A 70 I think) with a Raymarine AIS 250 connected to it on the NMEA, it works well when the aerial is correctly connected. Have you looked through the menus to see if there is any reference to AIS. If there is I suggest it can produce AIS sat Hope this is of help.

The A70 supports AIS. The OP's A65 is a discontinued older product, which doesn't support AIS.
