We have decided to get out of boating after 25 years and 11 different boats. Problem is, we have not been using it enough to warrant the annual cost, and after a couple of late nights in the kitchen (and 4 bottles of Sauvignon Blanc!), the final decision has been made, and we will be putting the boat on the market shortly. SWMBO has ongoing health problems which makes it incredibly difficult for her to move around on deck, and she's not happy with driving the boat either. All in all, while we use the boat quite often, it is nowadays mainly as a floating caravan. So, after doing our usual, and spending £thousands to update it and bring it up to "our"standard (new canopy, all carpets, teak, radar/plotter etc etc) someone else will get the benefit - typical of us!! I know we will miss it, but we are now in our mid-'70's and it's the right time for us to spend our money with the cruise lines!

Let us know how you are selling, mates always are the best customers.

Mum and Dad did the same thing in their 80s'. Dad called it their ABF, Absolute Bloody Final. A little Contessa.

Nicho, that is a sad tale. But I’m sure it’s the right decision for you both, just don’t give up on the forum:)

Friend bought a motor home. Travels Europe. Loves it.

My best mate is now in his early 70s, had had both motor and sailing boats all his life, still goes scuba diving, decided last year that running a boat was too much hassle, then bought a land yacht.

Spoke to him yesterday, he’s just north of Barcelona struggling with engine problems!

I'll whisper this, but we have bought a caravan! A friend owns Swift Caravan Group, and between boats, we have had one before. We towed it all over Europe - brilliant, before returning to boats.. So, SWMBO is sharpening her skill with the crystal ball, and I'm off to do a tarmaccing course ("got a bit left over".) The lucky heather is growing nicely, and we will shortly be coming to a lay by near you.

I’m so sorry to hear that your selling up.

If anyone wants an immaculately presented Cranchi 39 Endurance this is the one, many recent upgrades and engine work carried out by myself , all the niggling jobs done plus servicing and preventative work like new injectors, new racer filter housings to replace the standard pre filters , the list goes on.
A very nice example.

Think you missed the point he's getting out!

Nobody should be allowed an easy out until they have introduced a new comer into the hobby to replace their position.

Wish you the very best future Nicho which ever way your path leads.
