My biggest probblem when my boat was 'out' a few years ago was the git who broke into it (and 8 other boats at the same time). Not only was a stack of gear nicked but the boat sustained £2500 of damage as a result of the forced entry.
Therefore I would recommend that all gear e.g. hand held GPS, tools, stereos, CD, TV, life jackets, vhf handsets, etc is removed. Record the serial numbers of any kit that can't be easily removed. You may also consider knocking up a laminted poster advising potential thieves that breaking into your boat is a complete waste of time.
