I recently priced up the cost of new covers for my boat and then noticed A1 were recommended on this forum.

I contacted Karen (07921458818) and immediately realized they were the right company for the job, enthusiastic, sensible completion date and well priced.
Based inland close to Hamble which helps keep the cost down as they are not having to pay extortionate marina rates but very convenient for Hamble, Southampton, Portsmouth and Chichester.
First Karen called to see me to measure up and to fit a temporary plastic pattern.

Once fitted we marked out in black marker exactly where the windows, zips and doors were going.

It surprised me how much time went into the making of the pattern , there were several trips required as the pattern cant be fitted during windy conditions and we are all aware how windy it is around coastal marinas.

Due to the windy conditions Karen made a full pattern and then fitted it to my boat before making the covers from the pattern.

A huge amount of man (lady) hours go into the covers.

A lot of added detail was introduced by Karen, easy quick straps on the doors and windows to enable rolling them up.

Extra straps were added as options (use during the windy winter, remove for the summer).

The flybridge cover was fitted with a 'support pole pocket' , anyone with a flybridge cover knows how tricky it is to keep the support poles upright, A1 covers stitch a pocket/sleeve which the mushroom top pole sites in and can ride up and down freely, a very clever idea.

There is a strap which can be used over the winter that goes all the way over the top and is stitched in to avoid friction burns.

The windscreen cover also has winter straps attached to stop it blowing away during the winter gales.

The cockpit canopy has a window that crosses an awning pole, A1 covers make quick release Velcro covers to wrap around the stations to prevent burning/browning.

Excellent covers, very good quality remarkable value.
Wind screen Covers (mesh or canvas) from £200
Canopies from £800
Flybridge covers from £500

Thanks DAKA always good to find a company that put some thought into their work, these inovations make all the difference, having tried to remove the brown marks from my clear panels only to discover (from forumites) that they are in fact burn marks and will not come out.

Wow - not only seemingly very professional, but exceptionally good value too I think. Don't suppose she'd be as willing to come all the way up to Berkshire though (even if only half way to Midlands!). Shame, because a complete new set of covers on a 38' cruiser around this area costs from £2.5K upwards, and there's normally a 6 month waiting list wherever you go...

Great posting! :)

A1 Covers are Excellent

I have had a cover made by Karen at A1 covers, ( 07921 458818) done me a good deal as it is an old boat. Good product, excellent fitting, didn't leave any rubbish on site, took all old covers away. This company deserves your business, competative price, speedy service, good product, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
