A long cruise - Spain - France - Corsica - loads of photos

Hurricane, Truly outstanding post and great pictures, THANKS for sharing the experience with us.

Good to see Match out there doing what she was so lovingly built for ! :D :D

Hi Mike

Great post(s), thanks for all that effort. Really brings it to life.

Here's a very small selection of the 2000+ photos that H took while we were guests on board Match - thanks to Jfm for his hugely generous hospitality, Match is a fantastic ship, and Jfm the consumate host. We've had just the most unbelieveable time, saw some amazing and awe-inspiring places, spent time with some brilliant people, real pinch-yourself stuff. Thanks again.

This is just a handful of pics, mostly from Corsica; H is away on business this week but I daresay when she's back there will be a few more to add.

And all these are Match at the Lavezzi Islands, right at the very bottom of Corsica:

This gives a great idea of what the water was really like. It was clear enough to see the shoals of bream swimming under the boat, although trying to catch them armed only with a bit of string and some bread proved to be a fruitless, if very entertaining task...

...

A great cruise, we were very privileged to be invited. As Derek says above, a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Cheers
Jimmy

What a truly outstanding thread - huge congratulations and thanks to all the posters involved for taking the time to write it all up - especially Hurricane.

Its posts/threads like this (and kcrane's recent trip report) that keep one coming back to YBW for more even when sometimes the forum seems a little dull. I hope that Haydn (HLB) has read it.

Having some truly jaw-dropping locations is a good start, mind you...
Yes and no.
Most folks think that a nice place alone makes a nice pic, but there's more than that, and both yourself and your wife seem to know that perfectly.
Some of this stuff is more than good enough for an official yard brochure!
Below is my favourite, I'd be curious to see the orginal hi-res version...
Thanks for sharing them with us, anyway!

fantastic trip and report, really enjoyed it!
can I ask what program / plotter / software you used to put the track on the map ?

Yup MM. some of the shots are being sent to the yard with a suggestion they use them! The high res version of that one is stunning, along with a couple of others in the same set. Actually in that pic the boat is leaning slightly to port, becuase there was a very slight swell. Dunno how to photoshop it back to level ??

There are a few more stunning "brochure quality" shots not posted yet; will maybe do that later (Jimmy/Viewfinder, I'm thinking of the Lavezzi shots, eg the one of the stbd side saloon saloon window with the reflection in it)

Wow what a post Hurricane thanyou!

I was only thinking this forum needs a pick me up from the JFM boat build post, and here its is, truly entertaining well done.

Fantastic report, Mike and superb photos. Brought back memories of our one season in SoF in 2003. How about the Croatian coast for your next adventure!

Looking outside at rain just now, then looking at these superb photos is truly inspiring, well done. As someone else already said, you folks certainly look as if you're living the dream.

Yep, I see what you mean, but the overall leaning is hardly noticeable. It's just the shadow on the transom that gives it away, and that could be adjusted, I think.
Besides, considering that - unfortunately... :D - an OB returning onboard after a swim is missing, I'd remove also what look like a swim ladder (stbd side of the platform).
It would also be nice to close the transom door, but that's harder.
But imho, what would be more important to complement the lovely framing is some more saturation. And depending on what's in the original file, that might be easy to adjust/improve.
I can give it a try if you wish, just email me the file.

I/JtB have it as jpeg, about 7Mb, not raw. Will that do? But anyway, i think Viewfinder is on the case with the files, and iirc JtB might have degraded the pics a bit before posting in order to maintain Viewfinder's value in the originals

We debated transom door but Viewfinder likes it open as it shows the boat in use. Ditto the ladder I suppose. Yes an OB would help!
