a little rant!!!

excuse the following but i feel the need........the need to rant!!!
i know that 99.99% of folks that use a forum such as this are genuine honest nice people but there are obviously a few slimy gits that use forums such as this or ...any forums to be slimy!!!!
i say this because i have had 2 pm's from people who have expressed interest in the sort of boat i have bought!! and offered to send me pics of theres........if i send pics of mine..........fine no prob except when i have responded to these pm's & said that me & my husband would love to see the pics of your boat i have never heard from these people again!!!!
am i completely paranoid or rightly suspicious in the motives of these people ( and i dread to think of what photos they were thinking of sending me!!!!!!)
why as soon as i have responded & mentioned the fact that i have a husband have i never heard from them again & have never been sent the pics of their boats???? supposedly the same type as ours (an old tod tornado)

yes maybe i am paranoid or maybe using the name millym(milly has been my nickname for years dont know why & is now the name of our boat) just attracts weirdos for some reason???!!!

I know what you mean. I have stopped responding to pm's from female members of the forum asking to see my "boat" for precisely that reason. They are all just after one thing /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

But I received an answer to a PM for some help I could offer with engine parts that I sent last May, and only received an answer this week.
Some people dont reply at all.......
Anyway, post a picture of a tod tornado as I have no idea what it looks like....

The picture has to actually be on the internet. You can't just attach a pic from your computer to your post.

The moderators can do little to help here, as they'd need to start hosting pictures, which they don't have time or space to do for all the pictures everyone wants to post.

You can post the picture to a simple photo hosting site (not all work with links though), and then just click on 'Image' and follow simple instuctions with the url of the photo when you post.

If you are really stuck, I'll host and post the image for you, but you will need to email the picture, which sort of gets back to your original post. I'm well known around here though, so kind of a safe bet. I'll pm my email address if you want to go this route.

or I can talk you through it one stage at a time, if you want to do it yourself

I have been on this forum for years and nobody has tried to chat me up or made any indecent proposals.Never mind,I live in hope.

If you have a picture of your boat anywhere on the web such as an online photo album or whatever

right click on the pic

left click on "properties"

"blue in "the url

right click on the blued in bit

left click on copy.

Set up your post on the forum like this

[image]url of your pick[/image] to transfer the copied url put the cursor between the two"image"in brackets then press ctrl and v at the same time.

The url you tried from a pic from photobucket doesnt look long enough did you get it by right clicking directly on the pic you want then selecting the url from "properties"

Ok milly

open a thread
click on the 'Image' button just underneath your message by the smileys
a box will open asking for the URL
open another browser window and find the photobucket page where you have your photo saved.
there is a box below that photo that says Url:
copy all that line http: etc etc
go back to the box asking for the URL and paste the Http: etc etc into it
Click on OK

Tada!!

Much easy way on Photo bucket - simply copy the "img" line and paste straight into the post.

Yes, you have to be a bit circumspect about people's motives. On a couple of occasions I've replied to women wanting to crew (or so they said) but after adding something like 'not looking for romance' they haven't even bothered to reply. Now I'd have understood if I'd sent a picture...
