Whenever I drill holes in stainless on board I tend to snap loads of drill bits because of the motion of the boat and my consequently poor control of the perpendicularity of the drill with the work piece. At home I use a pillar drill and of course have no (well, fewer) problems.
What I need is a drill stand - although a small pillar drill in the forepeak isn't completely out of the question - does anyone know if you can buy them for cordless drills?
I know that a Dremel comes with, or at least one can get, a stand, but I need something more substantial capable of drilling 6 or 8mm dia. It might be even better if the stand can be moved to clamp to whatever is being drilled, eg the mast.
I used to have a primitive stand made by Black & Decker which fitted a mains drill, but have never seen one for a cordless (I have a Hitachi professional cordless, but am prepared to buy a new one and relegate the Hitachi from boat to home use).
