4 weeks to Oostende!

Preperations here well in hand, Louise just gave her notice in just to make sure we could make it

Think we'll be heading up to Harwich from the Blackwater on the Friday evening and then across on the Saturday (Kids, school etc.)
 
Its also in our plans to head for Shotley on the Thursday but will make the call when we see what way the wind is blowing for the crossing. anything other that a forcast of a SE for the crossing should see us there. Our other option is Ramsgate
then straight to Oostend
 
Not really thought about it yet.... last couple of years we have left at about 02h00, which has worked OK, as it has been light by the time we reach Rough Towers....

But will take a look at tide times to get the best start out of the Orwell...

We intend to leave the Deben about mid-night Thursday as long as we don't bump into any of the un-lit buoys on the way out. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
We will look out for you overtaking us about halfway.
 
just curious to know are they aware that the floating branch of Alcy Anon will decend on them shortly, whats the norm all rafted together or just shoe horned in wherever there is a space?
Anyone planning to move on from there. We have been toying with a jaunt to Middleberg which we have been told is quite nice???????
 
Its bow or stern too mooring... there are pickup buoys for the outer end, so quite easy... although there are also a few pontoons that might get used if neccessary....

Sadly we only have a long weekend (SWMBO can't get the time off work) but we normally make a week of it.... As for Middelburg.... its delightful.... if you have the time, then highly recommended.....
 
Oostend berthing is every man for himself then hope we not to close to FC the noise of all those bilge pumps will waken the dead /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif (sorry Jim cheap shot) hope all the water ingress issues are now a thing of the past.
Bows to for us then as Artemis has really bad disliking to going astern Jim we must have a discussion about Kiwi Props I am leaning in that direction rather than a cruising chute (cant afford both) hoping it will help with wicked prop walk Art has as well as a little extra speed under sail.
Sounds like Middleberg is well worth a visit none of us in a hurry home.

Neil, still learning how to do this forum thing so ignore any misstooks, but if the boss carries on insisting that nobody has time off in the summer months, I am better off leaving anyway. So he now has 24Hrs to decide which is more important, me or his melons lol
